Three tales of Northside Festival 2013 in Brooklyn, NY , by Dale Eisinger, Jeremy D. Larson, and Zach Schoenfield, ~ It was late on Saturday and I was exhausted, having run from Williamsburg to Greenpoint and back and all I really wanted was to use a bathroom and then hit the sack. On my walk home, I decided I could duck into the venue Public Assembly to relieve myself—a Northside badge should at least guarantee that, right? But all plans were derailed when, at like two in the morning, as I was [...]

Douglas Martin is a pioneer of modern National Basketball Association fashion. For this piece, I was considering a long-ass intro, detailing the dearth of Dirty Shoes this year. I could claim to have taken a mental health day - er, half-year, but that’s not the whole truth. I could claim that I was busy getting ready for the NBA Playoffs as Russell Westbrook’s body-double , but anybody who cares about basketball knows I got taken out of that job way too early. (Plus, I’m a little soft in the middle to [...]

Rekkids!!! To have any clue what this series of posts is about click here . I found myself back in the capital again recently which allowed me to soak up Hello Moon 's emotional last huzzah in Anseo on Camden Street. The jangly indie pop foursome called it a day in spectacular fashion, selling their final EP in t-shirt form (tastefully presented in a Hello Moon -inscribed carrier bag) which I proudly purchased from [...]

Today (June 6) is FensePost's seventh birthday, and since I didn't post anything this morning I kept my head down, powered through and wrapped by mid-year best of 2012 list, covering my top 10 LPs from January to June. Before jumping into the list, let's go over a few of the more highly anticipated albums of the second half of 2012. Just a list of bands for you: Camera Obscura, Daughn Gibson, The Moondoggies, Pure Bathing Culture, Ty Segall, Typhoon... I'll leave it at that. The above photo was shot earlier this [...]

We're even more honored that the photographs of this man running through the city by bike and tuk-tuk in Indian sifted [...]

Little hints of influences continuously creep in and out of Men's Adventures brilliant Bad Feelings single , guiding and shaping the track along it's three-and-a-half minutes. The laid-back breeze of surf rock here, a touch of psychedelia there and a cinematic sheen to the whole thing that drives the track along. The song is taken from the bands forthcoming debut EP Solitary Trip (June 24th/Dirty Bingo Records) and we liked it so much we wanted to know more. The bands core members, Alfie and Jimmy, took the time to tell us some more... [...]

THIS WEEK'S BEST BET: Baroness w/ True Widow Wednesday, May 29 Center Stage - 1374 W. Peachtree Street NW in Atlanta 30309 Admission $16 ADV / $18 DOS / Purchase Tickets In a week with so many can't-miss events, choosing any one performance to trump the others is pure folly; I mean, relegating such potentially titanic shows as the Men , Coliseum and O'Brother to "Best of the Rest" status seems almost profane, no? And yet here I [...]

Here is how the headlines will remember the week. President of the Catholic League is so fired up at Bowie's "The Next Day" music video that he called the pop star a, "switch-hitting, bisexual, senior citizen", while the media hedgefund-scaled hype surrounding The Great Gatsby redux only further reminds us of our current-crap-economic conditions, that finds Santigold moonlighting on "The Office" along with Clay Aiken and Aaron Rodgers to find "The Next Grea...
For the first time in - dare I say months? - I took a friend's music advice and it led to me stopping by Amoeba to pick up a new LP. This happens very infrequently. Alas, the album - Excavation by The Haxan Cloak - was too good to pass up. I know I don't typically post [...]
