Hey dudes and ladies, sorry I haven't been posting much this month. I've been travelingeven more than usual, and haven't had much time to sit down and write down much of anything besides flight confirmation numbers and directions to wherever I happen to be sleeping any given evening. Cheers once again to those of you [...]
More festival news to make you jealous! This time it's about Roadburn, which we've salivated over like most men do over Christina Hendricks. If you thought they couldn't rival last year...well, they did. Trust us.Godflesh are playing Streetcleaner in its entirety. Swans are headlining one night. Candlemass will perform their classic debut Epicus Doomicus Metallicus as a whole, featuring original
The question of who invaded Britain in prehistoric times was much debated by earlier generations of scholars. Bloody battles were imagined, in which one race virtually exterminated another and populated the country anew. Mysterious "Beaker folk" were said to have arrived in the third millennium B.C. introducing metalwork and burying their chiefs in barrow tombs [...]

Will the festival season ever end? Part of me hopes so, but another part hungers for more. And The Wire sponsored Adventures in Modern Music Festival at Chicago's Empty Bottle this past week pushed that hunger to a limit. I'm now pretty sure that another festival would kill me. Japanese doom legends Corrupted kick off a short US West tour ( dates ) with Bay Area doomsters Asunder tonight at Slim's in San Francisco. Corrupted haven't been to the US in 11 years, so this is a big deal. Making it bigger is the addition of Ludicra - my favorite metal band - doing their annual Halloween hometown gig. [...]

by Cosmo Lee Menace Ruine is a shadowy male-female duo from Montreal. Their full-length debut, Cult of Ruins ( Alien8 , 2008), proffers a vision of hell that isn't dark and foreboding like its grayscale artwork. Nor is it red and orange like the Christian Crayola invention. Instead, it's a blinding flash of light. The full color spectrum sears the record like a soldering iron to the ass. "Process of Bestialization" recalls the glory days of [...]
