Despite almost no escape from hot venues and high heat, Portland showed their love for live shows at MusicfestNW.

R&B artist Steven A. Clark today releases his awesomely-titled sophomore LP, Fornication Under the Consent of the King , via L&E Media Co./BloodyGround USA. Yesterday, Portland's MusicFestNW wrapped up five days of concerts at over a dozen venues throughout the city. Among the acts who performed were Passion Pit, Beirut, Girl Talk, Dinosaur Jr., Flying Lotus, Swans, Fucked Up, The Pains Of Being Pure At Heart, Wild Nothing, Purity Ring, and DIIV. A lot has happened to Menomena since they released Mines back in 2010. Last year they lost member Brent Knopf amid a flurry of stories about just how much the band members couldn't seem to stand each other (stories they have shot down, by the way) and opted to carry on as a duo. Later this month the band - composed of founding members Justin Harris and Danny Seim - will release Moms , which is not only their most focused effort but also their most deeply personal. "I'm nothing if I'm nothing but a Yes man" After a big falling out and the ultimate departure of the band's third member, Menomena is about to release their 5th album supremely titled Moms. Although its subject matter is quite depressing, Pique is a beautiful and intricately layered song. It seems as though the band's remaining members are getting along just fine alone. Be sure to purchase Moms when it is released on September 18th.
