There was the fear, when Menomena released Mines over back in June, that it would be one of the forgotten albums when year-end lists come out, despite the positive reviews and captivating live shows. Well, now that publications are celebrating their favorites, we can confirm that, indeed, Menomena are being largely forgotten. But not here on One Thirty BPM. Or 0n AOL, where they recorded an Interface Session, featuring three songs and an interview. Below check out the songs "Killemall," "Taos," and "Tithe" and head over to Spinner for the interview.

It's near impossible to pick one top album with the massive amount of music I listened to this year but I thought I'd try to at least give you an idea of what you should grab this year before we start anew. Monday I debuted 20 thru 16 ; Yesterday my 15 thru 11 . 10. The Morning Benders - Big Echo This album was so damn good. The songs by Chris Chu, are some of the best songs written in this calendar [...]

Yes folks, that's right! If you didn't get enough of my top 20 albums of the year on Monday (check it here in case you missed it), we've decided to take all of that musical goodness and serve it up in mixtape form for your listening pleasure. That's right, each of the 20 tracks on this mixtape is either a track from one of my top 20 albums or a remix of a track from one of my top 20 albums. And since I like to keep things neat and orderly and easy to keep [...]

Filed under: Concerts and Tours , Video , Exclusive After years of going back and forth with ideas, Menomena finally released their fourth LP, 'Mines,' in July. To celebrate the album's release, the Portland, Ore.-based rockers dropped by Spinner's New York studios to record an Interface taping that featured the tracks 'Tithe,' 'Killemall' and 'TAOS.' While Menomena's performance may make the songs look simple, the studio versions were sampled and assembled in piecemeal fashion. The end result [...]
Well, it's that time of year again. Even though there are still a few weeks left in the year, we've decided to name our favorite albums of the year. But before we begin, let me go on a little rant about the state of music. It's nothing we haven't heard before but I wanted to say it anyway. Basically, what I'm saying is, there is no possible way for one person to listen to every album that's released, much less give them all a few listens to determine their ability to grow on you as albums [...]

Well, it is now December... the year is coming to an end so I thought it fitting to start posting some end-of-the-year-lists here on TheFrontloader.com, starting with our Top 10 Favorite Albums of 2010. The thing to keep in mind with this list is that it in no way implies that these are the "best" albums of 2010. These are merely my favorite ones... the ones that I found myself playing over and over again because they possessed something that made me want more. It was a good year for music, that's for sure. I look [...]

By Matt Jarrard Matt Jarrard offers up his favorites of 2010, in no particular order but with a little explanation for each. Dr. Dog – Shame Shame Dr Dog is one of the tightest, most reliable and energetic live shows you can catch these days. Shame, Shame is more fine-tuned and less lo-fi than their prior efforts, but a great album none-the-less. Shame, Shame is a sign that the Leaman/McMicken songwriting [...]

In a regular new section, Tuesday will be the outlet for those immediate tunes that grab the senses and won't let go. Lodged firmly in the synapses from the outset, they need little or no explanation and we'll sit back to let the music do the talking. MP3: Menomena - Taos ( via Insound ) Taken from the new album Mines, out now [...]
Whilst I can't guarantee exactly where it'll place, I can guarantee you that Tu Fawning's excellent debut album "Hearts On Hold" will be on my top albums of 2010. It's such a rich and underrated album that not enough people are talking about, but when I discovered them earlier this year it didn't take long for me to fall in love with it. Even though this video for "I Know You Now" isn't new, I only just found it, and the expressionless band members and weird room with hanging twirly stuff just confuses the hell outta me. What [...]

Photography by Me! WHEE ! Happy US Thanksgiving Eve!!! Very excited! Tonight, all across America, people will be placing giblets under their pillows with hopes that the Great Gobbler will swoop down their chimneys, exchanging the less-than-pleasanet-though-ver y-high-in-iron innards for beer & Stove Top Stuffing brand stuffing! AND... if you've been an extra good boy or girl this year, the Great Gobbler will even insure your favourite team has an extra-special juiced-up syringe of steroids, to help them win "the big game". Here's [...]

Words by Jacob Barron Since graduating and getting a real job, I've almost completely jettisoned lyrics from my iPod. Seriously people, I have 8 gigs of space on this baby and I've exhausted 6 of those gigs with wordless music. I just can't work when someone's saying or singing things. It may just be the fact that I'm a writer, and am prone to absent-mindedly typing out the things I hear in my ears, rather than the things I'm constructing in my head. Like, I'll be listening to Bob Dylan while writing [...]

Menomena: Dirty Cartoons from Mines

Menomena - Mines MMMM 1/2 Menomena is a unique band for multiple reasons, but what's yielded a fair amount of press over their past few albums has been the band's use of a particular piece of computer equipment. Instead of simply sitting down in a room with their instruments to work out songs, Menomena uses a computer program called the Digital Looping Recorder, or Deeler, programmed by band member Brent Knopf while he was in college. Deeler [...]

As a music blogger, I feel that it is my duty to keep all of you aware of the up-and-coming artists in the industry. The list of rising stars, the up-at-bats, the talent on deck, if you will. I am going to start a monthly feature on Sunset in the Rearview called Artists on the Dashboard that shines light on three artists to keep on your radar; artists who have shown the talent, the drive, and the willpower to be a star. Keep your eye out for these features, and next thing you know, your friend will be [...]

It all started with a tweet. A request from my friend Shaun asking for more tracks for his "Sad Bastard" playlist. Well, if there's two things I am, it's sad and a bastard! Wait... No. That's wrong. I'm not really either of those things. Regardless, however, I listen to more than my share of "Sad Bastard" music. From the newest Menomena disc (how's that for a downer?!) to Tim Kasher' s many projects (if he's not a sad bastard, I don't know who is) [...]

Monday morning ya'll. Let's get this week started off with a bang. Here's Portland's Menomena with "TAOS." It's going to be a pretty special song that prevents this one from being my favorite song of 2010. It's like a straight shot of electricity.
