Unfortunately for all of us who have fallen in love with Chuck , we now grieve in the wake of the show's grand finale. But let's take some time to happily reminisce, and remember how he captured all of our hearts in the first place. NBC's Chuck is one of the few comedy-action-drama spy shows that will forever take your breath away, either by laughing too hard or the show's constant twists, turns, and cliffhangers. It followed the life of Chuck Bartowski (Zachary Levi), a "nerd-herd" computer whiz recruited by the CIA and NSA after all of [...]
[ download ] [tweetmeme] In his day job as a political writer (for the libertarian publication Reason ), Virginia’s Meredith Bragg sees the unpleasantness of the current state of American affairs up close. That perspective seems to color “Birds of North America,” the lovely but troubling first single from Bragg’s third album, Nest . On “Birds of North America,” Bragg paints a portrait of a nation where to be a public figure is to be [...]

Meredith Bragg, "Barking Dogs" (2011) find it on Nest Running in the same circles (the real-life kind. Google didn't invent them, you know ) with Meredith, I've been getting each of his releases since 2005, and really liking-in that way that's genuine and satisfying when the artist is a friend-both Meredith's songwriting prowess and the arrangements. But it was 20082s Silver Sonya that really blew me away. It was recorded with the rule that the only [...]

Somewhere between dream pop and the vague territory of “Indie Pop” stands Meredith Bragg – that’s when he and his producer, Chad Clark, aren't inserting violin strains and plucks, at which point he’s waded, albeit momentarily, into “Chamber Pop.” And with songs like Aarowstork he emits the sort of folk associated with Simon and Garfunkel. Aarowstork doesn’t bore me as much as S&G did once their charms had worn off (which, for me, wasn’t that long, although that song about going to look for America is a bit of an exception). [...]
Meredith Bragg just released Nest, his third album for the Kora label. During the making of the 11-track LP, the Virginia singer/songwriter became a father for the first time, which he says had a definite influence on the material. See for yourself by downloading album tracks "Second Golden Age" and "Birds Of North America" below. "Second Golden [...]

It's another slightly meager Summer week of new releases, and since kids are in school, They Might Be Giants are able to sneak a non-kids album out -- not that it's fooled my kids at all. Elsewhere there's the latest from Portugal. The Man, Crystal Antlers , Big Talk , Shonen Knife , Theophilius London , Jenny O. , Willie Evans Jr. and the return of 311 . . Pheramones- We Already Know . . . . . .When in doubt open with pheramones. At least that's my philosophy when it comes to playlists i'm not sure what the track 1 should be. Energy, talent, pretentiously unpretentious... these guys have it all when it comes to being an ideal indie band. This song [...]

Oh, how happy I am to hear a new song from Virginia-based singer/songwriter Meredith Bragg. He's been one of my all time favorites since I began listening to the type of music I love today (and, if you're reading this site, you love too. I hope.). "Birds of North America" is brought to us by the always stellar DC-based The Kora Records , who will be putting out his forthcoming album, Nest , in July. The single ( Nest 's first) came out as Part Two of TKR's 7" series . It's wonderful in so many ways [...]

Virginia-based songwriter Meredith Bragg has announced the release of his forthcoming full-length album entitled, Nest . Out on July 19, this will be Meredith's fourth release with The Kora Records. Previously supported by longtime backing band the Terminals the chamber-pop artist has been compared to the likes of Ben Gibbard, and Elliott Smith. In Nest , Meredith pulls from a stream of inspirations including John James Audubon ("Birds of North America") and Renaissance architecture ("The Last Hours of Brunelleschi"), but his biggest influence was the recent birth of his daughter, and the themes of [...]

MP3: Meredith Bragg - "Birds of North America" There are songs that capture and convey an emotion, wrapping you up in a blanket of descriptive notes and melodies. Then there are songs that go beyond that, evoking imagery that amplifies this emotive magnetism. With its sweeping string arrangements and ethereal background drone, "Birds of North America" conjures up thoughts of an open plain tucked between towering mountains, mountains that point high into the sky. It's indie pop charm and chamber pop depth make it heartwarming and give it an inspiring sense of hope. [...]
Meredith Bragg - We're going to guess that the title of the Virginia songwriter's eagerly anticipated third full-length might be somewhat influenced by the recent birth of his daughter but we'll nevertheless find room to nestle in around Bragg's shimmering, engaging pop/folk... longtime collaborator and producer Chad Clark was again on hand to help steer this smart, ambitious project // Release : Nest (July 19, Kora Records) // Sounds like : a broadened sonic base for these personal Elliott Smith/Sufjan Stevens-like musical musings, a slight change up from the stark acoustic slant of [...]

"Puro indie rock orquestal con corazón", palabras de Entertainment Weekly para definir la música de este cantante y compositor de Virginia llamado Meredith Bragg . Bachman’s Warbler, Indigo Bunting, Dark-eyed Junco ... these are just a few of the birds of North America. We’re not sure if Meredith Bragg goes into as much detail on the various breeds as we’d want in his track, ‘Birds of North America’, but it’s still a fine uplifting alt pop effort. It’s taken from Bragg’s forthcoming album, ‘Nest’, which is out on July 19 through The Kora Records, and you can, listen to it here: ‘Birds of North America’

Meredith wasn’t worried how his song would sound on vinyl, in fact he went all out to make it as lush as possible. Of course that was knowing full well well that the pops and scratches would be no match for an orchestral bent matched only by a sassy melodic vocal flow. The result is ‘Birds of North America’, a tidy success that is both instantly memorable and endowed with pleasing longevity. The aforementioned 7-inch came out on Kora Records at the tail end of last month with a notable contribution from Donny Hue & the Colors on [...]
