The Worldwide Gallery Traxx 2012 Mixtape is based upon somewhat of an idiosyncratic concept. Featuring nine tracks from the likes of: Brenmar, M.E.S.H., Craxxxmurf, Dju Dju, Pictureplane, Asa Cossaboom, Slava, LILINTERNET, and o F F Love; the mix is built around samples from 100 telephone conversations with gallery receptionists across the world concerning said "Worldwide Gallery's" white cube interior. I'm not quite sure if this is meant to hold some deeper meaning (about receptionists?) or whether it is a stylistic choice but nonetheless, it creates an aura of mystery around the project. In regards [...]
German electronic music producer M.E.S.H. produces a dark atmosphere with a subtly Caribbean flavor on the track streaming above, "Dusk Balm." The smoky, fat bass synths, small vocal snippets, and ever-changing rhythm all make this song a pretty nice listen. It makes me think of what might happen if Burial and Delorean where forced into a collaboration. Interested in what this guy drops in the future. / via /

A new Freezepop limited edition album is due out January 25th, 2011 and is titled "Imaginary Friends". Get it from Darla . I won't be attending, but I do like the art of this Lowe tour poster. So, enjoy Bulgaria, Turkey and Greece! Denmark's Mew has a new one "Eggs Are Funny" and it's now available in the U.S. on iTunes/Amazon. I am streaming new material right now from their Facebook page. I really like "Sometimes Life Isn't Easy". Been listening to De/Vision's [...]

Jordan Brand is bringing the heat this winter and they are making sure they have something that will appeal to most collectors. Below you will find some detailed shots of the upcoming Air Jordan XIII "Altitude" rumored to release in December. Some of you may know that this color originally released back in 2005 in full leather and now this new retro features the typical mesh found on other popular versions of the XIII. With so many retro Jordan's to choose from this Fall/Winter will you be purchasing these as well? [...]
This was inspired by an ill-advised Saturday stroll down Bedford Avenue. Seriously, bathing and smiling never killed anyone. Get on it. Enjoy MESH 's all too apropos "Hipster Are The New Jocks." Hipster Disclaimer: We know this song is like sooo two years ago (2007) but FYI Morrissey is like sooo two decades ago. hipsters are the new jocks/it don't take much to realize that [...]
Mesh "A Perfect Solution" (new!!) is now available. Put on your friend-hat and order it from A Different Drum: $15 "This latest offering from Mesh fits right in with their other top-notch productions. It is more edgy and agitated than their last epic album, "We Collide" but fits right in with their high standards at the very top of the synthpop scene. This time it is released in the USA so you can get it for a good price too! Order the CD here : http://www.adiffere ntdrum.com/ buy/MET618/ Mesh-A-Perfect- Solution With tracks with these [...]

If you were ever into synthpop / futurepop / EBM, names such as Mesh , Diorama , Apoptygma Berzerk and De/vision should sound really familiar. In any other case I hope that today's stripped down, emotionally charged offerings will convince you to check these bands out. Welcome to the dark side, BTW :-) Diorama - Synthesize Me (Piano Version) Apoptygma Berzerk - Until The End Of The World (Acoustic) De/vision - Remember (Acoustic) [...]

(Showpaper cover art credit Peter Edwards) We actually sat this one out last night (our fucking day job is killing us more quickly these days), but Ruth from Famous Friends (the crew that the culture of me has been this-close to lately) hit us up with this today: From our dear friend Jay of Rage Mountain - As I'm sure you heard, last night's benefit for Showpaper was shut down by 10:30. The show was not shut down by Brooklyn cops for noise violations or [...]
I stumbled across this hilarious bit of parody-meets-social commentary while listening to a mix that DJ Z-Trip put together for a radio station and posted for download . When I heard the chorus – "hipsters are the new jocks / it don't take much to realize that" – I had to have it. This is what I know: The track is by an artist/graf writer called MESH from Brooklyn. And what better city from which to derive inspiration for a hipster-hating anthem. (As MESH says on his YouTube page , Williamsburg [...]

Finally organised some new hosting, so you'll see things popping back up over the next week. So let's just power on and pretend nothing happened. OK, so basically, Hey Now are kicking the shit out of Sydney weekends. On the DJ side, they dominate parties and turn clubs into mental asylums full of kids going completely insane. On the producing side, their remixes are fresh, summery and oozing with the light hearted yet intense party vibe that their live shows are known for. They've got a couple of new remixes of Lost Valentinos and [...]

Fuck, after that hectic week I feel like I've been hit by a car. And I would know. Anyway, I'll kick things off with a repost of one of my favourite tunes at the moment at a listenable bitrate plus another nice new mix: the Oizo and Kissy remixes of Calvin Harris ' 'Merrymaking At My Place'. It may take me months to get over the awesome grooviness, especially if a 12" release is around the corner that i can jive to in my room. The Kissy remix is more vanilla than I expected, but [...]
Electric Six "Mr. Woman" - Dick Valentine keeps singing "you can't be sure if you are going up or down," but he knows the answer. It's right there in the music -- you are going down, down, down even if you think you're coming up in the world. Most Electric Six songs are bleak, but "Mr. Woman" is full-on post-Apocalyptic scorched earth madness. Everything and everyone in the song is poisoned by cynicism and idiocy, culture has devolved into voyeurism and gossip, and the entire planet is nothing but a nuked junkyard where only the cockroaches and [...]
