Young, fresh talent unites in this Walden remix of Paper Crows's track 'Metal Hearts.' The newest signing to Pete Tong's FFFR Records, Paper Crows is a British duo who has drawn comparison to a goth version of La Roux. Walden's spin with their vocals driven track is a hard hitting study in pure electro house, with a driving chorus followed by wobbly acid tinged synths. No word on release yet so stay tuned. In Thursday's new video for "Magnets Caught In A Metal Heart" the band journey through a paper-made landscape to dissect the song's narrative. Though No Devolucion might arguably be their most critically acclaimed release since their debut, it's one that's been lost on the shelves amongst a slew of new releases I've been listening to over the past month. Mea culpa Thursday, I promise I'll do better. MP3 // MAGNETS CAUGHT IN A METAL HEART

We streamed their first feature track, "Past And Future Ruins" off the album a couple weeks back, and today we get to listen to the hazy built up love of "Magnets Caught In A Metal Box." We were smitten with the band's sophomore set The Hot Summer , and in particular the swirling album cut "Buzzard's Bay," but seeing Travels live in October made us confirmed believers. That The Hot Summer and the Somerville, Mass.-based duo's forthcoming set Robber On The Run will both have been released in the springtime seems to do them a small disservice, as the duo's sparse, smoldering songs evoke not re-birth, but rather a beautiful stillness and decomposition that are distinctly autumnal. Seasonal anachronism aside, Travels ' forthcoming third full-length Robber On [...]
Video for the slow-burning album cut from Boston (well, Somerville) duo Travels ' forthcoming third full-length Robber On The Run , which is due June 10 on Own Records. Pre-orders for the set are slated to begin May 10. The video for "Smile" was directed by Travels ' singer/guitarist Mona Elliot; Ms. Elliot also created this video for the track "City Lights."

Travels is Mona Elliott and Anar Badalov. Anar was formerly one half of Metal Hearts. Mona is the former lead of Victory at Sea. The two groups toured Europe together couple years back and during that time the pair fell in love. They've since returned home, moved in together and started making music . They released their self-titled debut in late 2007 and now return with The Hot Summer ... [...]
So, funny story. It turns out that it's not kosher to post recorded shows from the BIRN -- apparently it could jeopardize our radio license. And thus, we go back to only having playlists available. >> According to this engrossing interview with Revelation Records head Jordan Cooper, a second notable documentary about the hardcore punk scene -- in addition to the excellent "American Hardcore," this one focusing on the New York Hardcore scene that produced legendary acts like BURN , Quicksand , Judge and Bold -- has been underway for some time. Originally helmed by krsnacore posterboy and former Youth Of Today and Shelter fronter Ray Cappo, the film is nearly complete, although Cappo apparently had to switch his focus to his own [...]

Let's keep this simple. To me, this site has always been about supporting the local music scene. So I decided, that there is no better way to celebrate our first anniversary, than to make a mix of local music from the past year. I had so much fun, that I ended up making two discs. Some of these bands have come a long way in the last 12 months, some didn't even exist when we started and others are no more. That said, every song is from a band that claims (or claimed) the Baltimore/Washington metro area as [...]

Anar Badalov and Mona Elliot met while touring Europe together in their respective bands, Metal Hearts and Victory at Sea . Metal Hearts is a young band who released an album on Suicide Squeeze Records called Socialize in 2006, garnering the Baltimore band a couple of handfuls of postive reviews from across the US for standout tracks like "Socialize" and "Foothills". The fairer half of Travels , Mona Elliott, has been paying dues in the Boston band Victory At Sea since 1996, earning a reputation for [...]
