Four Hearts

Metallic Falcons - "Airships" Somewhere there’s a woman who carries a hand-held cassette recorder wherever she goes. She records ideas for songs as they come to her, fragments of melody with her voice. When I first met her, I thought this was an affectation and I didn’t like it; I wished that she’d stop. Later, I realized that she was more unselfconscious than I’d given her credit for, just her unembarrassed embarrassing self. And then I was glad for the tapes, for they document the seeds of a brilliant body of work - a million songs wide and [...]
snakes and tea four hearts www.myspace.com/metallicfalcon s Here's what I know about Metallic Falcons: the members are Sierra Casady (from CocoRosie) and Matteah Baim, and also includes some guest appearances by Devendra Banhart, Antony (Antony and the Johnsons), and Jana Hunter. Um..... awesome. I think it's pretty much guaranteed this band is going to blow your mind. I posted "Snakes and Tea" and "Four Hearts" because I think those are the ones out there in internet-land, but really, the [...]

metallic falcons journey 2006 Paleo's diary : one song, each day the hangwoman (française version) Depuis la nuit dernière, le vent souffle à nouveau. La journée a été grise. Attendant dimanche minuit, le jour ne s'est pas levé. Il sait que l'année se meurt. Que l'année va mourir. S'il était un chef indien, pense-t-il du fond [...]
Utter exhaustion, illness and work purgatory have tied our typing fingers this week. I claim the first, Jon's the sick one, and even though I haven't talked to him in a little while it's always safe to assume that Joe, who has an Important Job, is in the grip of late capitalist global economy obligations. That, incidentally, was a explanation, not an excuse. I believe in the former but have little tolerance for the latter. [...]
While writing up a post about the world of pornogrind, I found myself listening to something that had nothing to do with even basic grindcore. So, instead, I've decided to write about a release that's been on constant repeat for the past few months: Cult of Luna 's Somewhere Along The Highway . I'd always been fond of Cult of Luna but considered them to be a poor-man's Isis. That was until this past June when these Swedish post-metallers finally stepped out of their comfortable shell to create a mammoth of an [...]

I'd like to say that we here at Skatterbrain are the furst to bring you a storm mix, but that's not the case is it? I decided to make this yesterday morning but laziness and power outages kept getting in the way of publicizing my soundtrack for this particular occasion. The storm's slipped a little on my end by now, but it's still gloomy enough for this to work. For the rest of you this may range from very appropriate to completely irrelevent, and if irrelevency's your case then I might suggest folding this up and sticvking it in your [...]

recommended for midnight drives along deserted roads to all those new destination unknowns. cocorosie's sierra casady and her friend matteah baim created metallic falcons with special appearances from antony, jana hunter and devendra colorful drums, guitar distortion & those lil piano sounds makes everything seem extra haunting & beautiful. listen ~*~ snakes & tea [from desert doughnuts released 6.6.06]
There are hints of various styles here including folk, gospel, industrial, punk and psychedelia as well as something not yet classified, but overall this is an album of spacious haunted melodies that perhaps would have ripped the music world apart during a cold, harsh winter.

A re-occuring problem that I see most often being a blogger is that sometimes I find myself overlooking albums that have already been blogged up and down all over the internet, because what's the use right? Now, that's a unfortunately terrible outlook to have, but it's truthfully how I feel sometimes. Now, the reason I say that is because that's almost what happened with Brooklyn's Metallic Falcons . I'd seen them everywhere, and for some reason I felt like I had no need to look into it further. However, had I not looked into it [...]
