Everyone else is doing it , so I guess that means that we need to do it too. Yes, mom, we would jump off a bridge with everyone else if they were doing it.. because, that's how we roll. So, we've broken down our lists into our favorite "national releases of 20123 and our "Nashville releases of 20123 as a No Country team. We decided to throw our best shows of 2012 into individual lists since we usually try to cover as many different events as possible. To let you have the full opportunity to absorb our gems, we are [...]

Since everyone is doing their " Best of " list. So here is my list for Canadian albums that came out in 2012. Starting from #50 to #41. I had to say this year was pretty hard finding what were *in my opinion* the best albums to come out in Canada. As I will say this, just be happy you made it on the list. If there were some missing ones I will probably put them on honorable mentions. For the Top 12 Canadian albums, it will be broadcast on my radio show [...]

En esta oportunidad, echan manos a “Why Don’t You Find Out For Yourself” de Morrissey . [...]

Whether my newfound love of 73s has distracted my attention from albums proper, I don't know (although I have amassed a hefty pile of LPs over the last 12 months), but choosing the top 10 LPs of this year has been tough. The top spots were secure from the beginning, but this year filling-in the lower orders has been a decidedly tricky operation. The trouble stems from the uniformity of quality of display this year. The top two stand head-and-shoulders above the rest of the pack, but all the others are almost on a level. Deciding on an order for [...]

The VPME It's time for the annual VPME Awards, as we reflect on the all that was awesome astounding and amazing during the musical year! It's also a time to reward our favourite artists with our version of a musical Oscar, the quite stunning and splendiferous "Pipster." Hewn from genuine 24-carat pixels, and then sculpted onto 5mm thick glossed, laminated PVC Board, this magnificent trophy will surely brighten up the drabbest of downstairs loos, tour vans, rehearsal spaces, or even garages. But on a serious note it's our chance to say thank you to a host [...]
Here it is. My countdown of my favorite albums of 2012. Though it's not a surprising #1 choice...my number one surprises me...because I don't love the album. Anyway, you'll have to wait to see what that is...until then...it's time for your input. Every year I ask you, my readers, to give me your twenty best/favorite albums. The only rule...the album has to have been released in 2012.

photo by Ron Henry Robyn Hitchcock has announced that he will be releasing his 19th solo album on March 13, 2013 on Yep Roc Records . The title of the LP is Love From London and, according to Hitchcock, will be an album that "celebrates life in a culture imperiled by economic and environmental collapse." Hicthcock, who is painter has referred to the songs as "paintings you can listen to." The cult musician, previously of the band The Soft Boys in the late [...]

Someone at VH1 apparently really, really likes the Canadian band Metric. The band took part in VH12s most recent Divas Live special, covering Blondie's immortal " Heart Of Glass " while more-or-less dressing like the band and standing in front of a backdrop that looked like the Parallel Lines cover art. And as the latest band highlighted in the channel's "You Oughta Know" series, they also played an acoustic cover of Morrissey's " Why Don't You Find Out For Yourself ." Watch both below. On Sunday Night, VH1 held their annual Divas gala in Los Angeles, and Blondie was among the honorees. Canadian troupe Metric paid tribute to the New York outfit with a straightforward cover of "Heart of Glass" - ahem, one of the greatest songs ever . Between Emily Haines' posh get up, the black and white backdrop replicating Blondie's iconic Parallel Lines artwork, and the bouncing crowds, it would appear as if it were 1979 all over again. Turn back the clock with the footage below (via Exclaim ).

By Aaron Wolfson December 18, 2012 We've never understood why Metric aren't more popular. In another era it's easy to see them shooting to stardom, perhaps alongside other edgy female-fronted bands like Blondie and The Pretenders . Emily Haines has mastered the art of the bold yet seductive rock voice, which she and her band have been pairing with catchy, crunchy, and lyrically subversive pop tunes since the classic 2003 Old World Underground, Where Are You Now? while referencing the Iraq war and other weighty topics with [...]

This track by Metric covers the three 'G's' for you.... Gold, Gun, & Girls . That's evidentially all you need to know in life. Kids With Weapons is an 18 year old musician and DJ who says he "just enjoys making music on computers." Straight and to the point, I can dig that. Metric is a Canadian indie rock and New Wave band founded in 1998 in Toronto. The band has also at various times been based in Montreal, London, New York City and for a short time Los Angeles. Metric [...]

Created by a warmth of KWW hot coals that slide and melt into a bed of progressive vocal ecstasy, Kids With Weapons puts the final shining star onto his growing production tree (with the help of Metric leading the way). What another fine mess Kids With Weapons has got us into. METRIC - Gold Gun Girls (Kids With Weapons Remix)
Live 105 has managed to put together, once again, a fantastic line up for their annual holiday spectacular. So much so, that they had to split it into two days. One day was a bit more "new wave" oriented, and another day was purely guitar driven. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to check [...]
