Do you ever get nostalgic for those music videos where a band chronicles hard-living and loving on the road? Last night's Wilco show at Metro felt more like a family reunion than a rock and roll show. Flanked by family and friends Wilco made their debut at the legendary club a show to remember. The band dove deep and found gold in the set opening sequence of Sunken Treasure > Wishful Thinking > Art of Almost. One of the highlights of the night came in the form of Ashes of American Flags. The Yankee Hotel Foxtrot cut featured a soaring guitar solo from Nels Cline that ended with one [...]

Lands and People - "Everyday" Live at Metro Gallery I have been meaning to post about these guys since I first heard them on Gluttony Is The New Black and then geeked during CMJ to Jimmy (who also runs the awesome Head Underwater ) about my love for them. "Everyday" is a live recording taken during their show at the Metro Gallery in Baltimore. Listening to it makes me want to drive down to Baltimore and catch a show or harass them enough until they just give up and come to [...]

There's a new whimsical video for "Sway" one of the synth-soaked highlights from Mates of State's terrific new album Mountaintops . In the video a girl falls into a rabbit hole at a high school gym and meets one of the woodland elves from Narnia and Kori Gardner and Jason Hammel play probably the most attractive school janitors ever. So yeah, it's a bit silly but the colorful cinematography and the overwhelming adorable factor of the band makes everything alright. Watch above and download the track below. MP3 Mates of State - Sway [...]

Odd Future's tour hit Chicago on Friday. OFWGKTA performed at the Metro, selling out the venue in their first Windy City performance since Pitchfork. Theolonious Martin was on hand and provides this review.

Chicago: home of hot dogs, mediocre sports teams, and malort. Oh, and lots and lots of hipsters. Minus the Bear and the Velvet Teen managed to show up at the Metro and sufficiently killed it. Got to the venue a touch late and missed a few of the Velvet Teen's songs, however they played a good variety from their discography. Old school jams like "Radiapathy" and :"Tokyoto" with newer jams like "No Star". Judah Nagler sounded awesome and switched from guitar to keyboard a few times as well. VT's new quartet line up really stepped their live show up since [...]
