The Smashing Pumpkins along with Kill Hannah will return to the Metro on July 27 for the first time in nearly a decade. The concert is a benefit for Matthew Leone, bassist and singer for Madina Lake , who was brutally beaten while attempting to stop a man from attacking the man's wife. Chicago Tribune's "Cheap Eater" , aka food writer Kevin Pang , took to his Twitter account today to release the first details on a new live compilation bootleg from The Metro . According to Pang's tweets , a press release states that the 10-track compilation will be titled, The Official Bootleg Series Vol 1 , and will be released on July 22 and could also be available at Pitchfork Music Festival on July 16 - 18 in Union Park for a nice price of $20. So, I got this track from Luxemburg group, Metro . Most of their info is in German, but what I was able to discern through various translations programs is that they are set to release their latest EP, Too Many Lovers . Their sound falls into the indie/pop/electronica genre and is catchy as hell. Good grooves, nice bassline and full-bodied , powerful vocals from front man, Oliver Treinen. Chicago rock duo Local H announced yesterday via its Web site and Facebook page that its long out-of-print fifth album, Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles , would finally be sold on iTunes . If you were one of the unlucky ones who did not pick up the album in 2004 before the CD became so hard to find, get it while you can. No word yet on whether the band plans re-release Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles on CD and vinyl. [...]

Kele Okereke, otherwise known as the frontman for Bloc Party, announced a little while back that he would be releasing a solo album called The Boxer this year. He had also previously announced a few Euro-tour dates for his solo act. Now he has announced a short US tour with a full band in support of this new solo album. Indie poppers Los Campesinos! returned to Chicago last Friday, April 30, to play The Metro . The Cardiff, Wales outfit made their American debut in the windy city at Lollapalooza 2007 and never looked back. Friday night's show, which also featured noisy rockers Cymbals Eat Guitars , was in support of the band's latest release, Romance is Boring .
