Video: Indietracks 2009 in 7 Minutes by LastNightFromGlasgow The Indietracks lineup seems to be pretty much complete now (though a few more bands are still to come) with Everybody Was In The French Resistance... Now and Slow Club both being added to the bill. Perhaps more excitingly though, the day by day breakdowns have now been announced, giving us a festival that looks something like this: Friday [...]

Coming to us courtesy of our delightfully indiepop and delightfully British friends at Twee As Fuck , we bring you Mexican Kids At Home, a five-piece from Derby, UK, who love a little ukulele solo now and then and describe themselves as "four skateboarders and a girl singer." They released their second EP, When We All Live in Igloos , in May on weePOP! records. With lots of harmonica-driven melodies, keys, trumpets, organ and an assortment of other noise makers - including that ukulele, which we're seeing everywhere right [...]

This is my favorite Wee Pop! release of the year so far. Mexican Kids At Home is unassuming band from the UK and on When We All Live In Igloos they sound like a chibi version of Led Zeppelin. That isn't to say these guys and gal don't rock the fucking house (they most certainly do). "Start A One Man Band!" is more rock 'n' roll than anything I've heard this year. Racing piano/marimba, lovely interplay with boy/girl vocals, some nicely executed tempo shifts and plenty of soulful "oooos" to make [...]

Mexican Kids at Home : When we all live in igloos EP ( WeePOP! ) Imagine 5 venture scouts hosting you to take on on some light-hearted songs around the campfire...add some ukuleles, accordions and melodicas, and you'll get a clearer image of what those Mexican Kids at Home are about. The precondition to bring this experience to a climax is to strike down your prejudice : yes skaters can be twee, yes igloos can fly, yes cold air balloons are CO2-free... => Mexican Kids [...]
Lostmusic is delighted to be teaming up with London's weePOP! Records and we're hosting their 1st year anniversary on Sunday 22nd June. The night features 4 bands that have all released sparkly 3″ CDr singles on weePOP! during the past year. And they'll be a free CD for the first 30 people who turn up! The line up is as follows: The Just Joans ( My Space ) A "shangri-las" esque tribute to small town teenage angst! Brimming with humour and boy/girl coloquial scottish vocals, keyboards/pianos, banjos and acoustic guitar, this [...]
