Chris Daly is smoking Optimos in Orlando. Enter Cole Williams aka The Child of Lov, a 25-year-old Dutch musician whose age and location belie a musical kinship with everyone from George Clinton to D’Angelo. With his eponymous LP out now on either Double Six Records or Domino Records depending on which side of the pond one hails, TCOL takes old school, Parliament-style funk and liberally updates it with hip-hop and dance floor sensibilities. Opener “Call Me Up” is a slowed down version of “Mothership Connection,” all blunt smoke and layered vocals, falsettos and [...]

Wreck and Reference // “Abhorrence” To be a metal band yet forego the use of guitars (or any stringed instrument for that matter) sounds crazy. And that is exactly what California experimental metal duo Wreck and Reference is: crazy. There is no shortage of creativity flowing out of the metal scene these days, but Wreck and Reference push experimentation to its extremes. These two guys are not afraid to think outside the box and it makes them one of the most exciting bands on the scene today. I’ve been championing [...]

This track, from Dutch producer The Child Of Lov , feels like it creeped out of the ancient unknown caverns of a lost DOOM catalog. The samples are soul-rich southern string arrangements, floating between chambered echoes of dead souls. Oh and DOOM is here. So that's good enough for anyone. Check it out below and grab The Child Of Lov's self-titled debut today.

This brings me back to my teen years, scary how time flys by so quickly and yet we are still listening to the same tunes and trying to find ways to give them a little modern flavor without destroying the magic taste that it already possesses. "The Mouse and The Mask" was a sick album to say the least and a collaboration of genius to put it lightly. Danger Mouse and MF Doom , or Danger Doom, gave out hip-hop gold. Methodical lyrics over solid heavy beats and production is [...]

All we know about The Child of Lov is that it's the project of a 25 year old Georgia-via-London-via-Paris-v ia-Amsterdam musician named Cole Williams, who somehow has a knack for finagling big-name guest stars, and who apparently had enough creative energy to drop both a debut record and a mixtape of tracks left on the cutting room floor this week. You can check out two tracks from the debut record now - "One Day," which features Damon Albarn of Blur/Gorillaz fame, and "Owl," which features the cult-rapper DOOM . Don't [...]

We hope it's not too early from some eerie production propelled by hard-hitting lyrics from the young, Dutch musician, The Child of Lov . Tune into "Owl" a dense track filled with repetitive guitar riffs, subtle beats, and the omniscient rhymes from the underground, masked hip-hop artist, DOOM . Sniff out and order Child of Lov's self-titled debut album, here . The Child of Lov ft. DOOM - Owl The post Stream: The Child of Lov ft. DOOM - Owl appeared first on Vibe [...]
Former anon Child Of Lov brings the sweaty deep-South feel to this collaborative track with the masked villain DOOM. Sombre, sun-dried guitars and bass and DOOM's hot and bothered cerveza bars make for a real easy listen:
I think this album is a bold move by Pombagira, a clear attempt to escape the label of a ‘doom band’ and create something that has never been heard before. This attitude has to be admired but sadly I don’t think there is quite enough substance in ‘Maleficia Lamiah’ to live long in the memory. - By Richard Collins

It's safe to say most kids love peanut butter and jelly. I did not. Globby, purple and red preserves never appealed to me, which is why-in one of those inspired parenthood moves-mom always added honey to transform my simple bread and spread sandwiches into a "PB&H." I still make them when I'm feeling homesick. For me, Clams Casino and DOOM go together like peanut butter and honey. I've been enamored with the molasses @ClammyClams aesthetic since Lil B's "Motivation" rang out of my tinny Macbook speakers what feels like forever ago, but was [...]

Shadowy soul singer Cole Williams, better known as The Child of Lov , has been on a creative rampage as of late. Just last week he released his Crying Thunder mixtape filled with five brand new tracks, and this week he celebrates the release of his self-titled debut. The album includes two very special guests: "One Day" features Damon Albarn (whose 13 studio in London was used for the recording of The Child of Lov album), while underground hip-hop artist DOOM guests on "Owl". [...]

The Child Of Lov, the enigmatic Dutch bedroom-R&B artist, released his self-titled debut album two days ago; we'd already posted his video for " Give Me " and " Heal ," as well as a stream of " Fly ." And today, he's sharing the two big-name collaborations that appeared on that album. One "One Day," he and Damon Albarn sing over funereal, muttering dub. And on "Owl," cult-rap god DOOM turns up on amid swirling vocals on a mystical, Dilla-damaged, quasi-Eastern boom-bap track. Listen to both below. Read More...

For those of you out there anticipating the Child of Lov 's self-titled debut full-length, "Owl" is certainly a cut worth getting excited about. Sporting vocal assistance from DOOM , this creeping jam is one of the many highlights on the new album. The haunting vocals of the Lov Child complemented by DOOM's equally challenging wordplay are a match made in musical heaven.
