Producers Kwes and Micachu collaborate on the second installment of their tape mixes, with guest drops from Speech Debelle, Ghostpoet and more
After a month hiatus of Le Miel du Mois is finally back with it's latest installment and man does it feel good to say that. I saw all the comments and got the emails, I missed it as much as you guys but Steph was in the process of leaving New York for London and I can only imagine how busy she must have been. The LMDM tapes always seem to take me on this joyful ride of reflection and movement, I guess that's why so many of us have come depend on it to get our months [...]

The last time I saw Micachu and the Shapes play they seemed young, timid. They were good - no doubt about that - but even in the snug confines of Great Scott in Boston they were small, swimming in their homemade oversized t-shirts. Last Tuesday night at Le Poisson Rouge , they showed that they have grown up quite a bit. These aren't just kids, these are bona fide musicians, performers, innovators. The night kicked off with a great opening set by local Brooklyn duo Tanlines , beat-driven up-and-comers on [...]
Well, it's year-end time here at TSRE, and we're recapping our favorite dozen shows from the 2009. Already knowing and loving [...]

I promised last week on The Stu Reid Experiment twitter feed ( @tsre – follow us!) that the Astronomer Remix of Micachu and the Shapes' "Lips" would make an appearance on the site. Who am I if I do not live up to my promises? This tune has been rattling through my braincage for a couple weeks, quickly climbing the playcount charts that iTunes embarrassingly maintains. Astronomer does a fantastic job taking a song that doesn't sound like it needs a remix and really upping the ante. The song - which started life as a fairly [...]
