Last month I asked if you guys would be interested in a monthly Ninebullets Spotify playlist. You seemed pretty responsive to the idea so here is the first one. This playlist features every band that was featured on ninebullets in the month of January that was also on Spotify. I hope you enjoy it and if you do, pass it along to some friends. Like I keep saying, every new pair of ears these bands reach is a potential fan/head at show. This month's playlist features: Lauderdale, Ryan Adams, Jason Isbell, The Far West, Will Hoge, [...]
On top of providing me with the best 9b Sticker Photo ever , my buddy Damian Burford recently started a blog called The Mostly Harmless Podcast . Per Damian the site was, " born out of the long dead ashes of my old zine, Mostly Harmless Magazine, I began transferring old interviews from old cassette tapes to Mp3s. I began to piece the old interviews together with new introductions and posted them online for the world. Hoping to use this as a springboard to launch my new podcast project... " Well it worked and The Mostly [...]

First I want to say that this was one of the hardest top lists I have ever done. Some of these don't deserve to be ranked any lower than the ones above them. While I didn't write as prolifically this year as I did others what I wrote about I really and truly loved. And then the other folks 'round these parts wrote about good stuff too. But the end of the year breeds top lists so I have been struggling for the past couple of weeks to actually rank these albums. I honestly will be doing some of these [...]

This week brings us the release of Micah Schnabel's second solo effort: I'm Dead, Serious and what a release it is. Chock of heartbreaking goodness this is 11 tracks of Micah's fairly genius songwriting. While this is a great album I don't think it's as strong musically as When The Stage Lights Go Dim overall. Now I don't mean to take anything away from this album by saying that. It's a damn fine record and it hasn't left my rotation since the day I got it. And I can even pinpoint what bugs me about it [...]

Micah Schnabel is one of those musicians who makes you forget everything but the music during a performance. He is very dear to our hearts here at The Ruckus as I imagine he is to anyone who has had the pleasure of seeing Micah perform solo or with Two Cow Garage . I often boast about this, but Colorado is an awesome place for music and this week I'm feeling especially proud. We get four shows of Micah Schnabel and two of them, including the Denver date, have our friends Tin Horn Prayer [...]
This was a slow week here on ninebullets. The week opened with some hosting issues which prohibited us from posting anything until Tuesday afternoon and then we just never found our stride. That said, there were posts and this is where we recap them: There were videos! First we had Bingham Barnes doing his best Napoleon Dynamite impression and then we were treated to an interview with Two Cow Garage's Micah Schnabel . There were exclusives! Lizzie Huffman has a new 103 coming out and we [...]
Some folks out in Columbus have started a new music interview series called Between The Notes and their first subject is none other that Two Cow Garage 's own Micah Schnabel. This is labeled as Part 1 but as of now, there seem to be no followup parts. If any happen to pop up I'll be sure to let y'all know.

As many of you know, the Suburban Home 16th Anniversary party was this weekend and it was amazing. Here's a quick snippet from Saturday night of the upcoming title track off of Micah Schabel's (Two Cow Garage) solo record due out in November. I'm 99% sure that every performance Micah gives is something special. This certainly was. The energy level was incredible. It was almost as much fun to watch the crowd as it was to watch Micah. Almost. Micah Schnabel - I'm Dead, Serious [...]

My good buddy Virgil's little record label is celebrating it's 16th Anniversary this weekend and unfortunately my campaign to raise 500 dollars to get out to Denver for it fell about 500 dollars short so it looks like I'm gonna miss it. As has become an annual tradition Suburban Home released a party themed mixtape last night featuring brand new tracks by Micah Schnabel, Have Gun Will Travel (featuring Devin Stuart of the Takers), Lizzie Huffman, and Arliss Nancy. So press play and enjoy it even if you're not going. If you are [...]

I expected this performance to be a big deal because Micah Schnabel is amazing, but it ended up striking me still. As I mentioned earlier , Micah rocked a tiny club at the end of the UMS strip and made my night. He mentioned that a lot of these songs came from a dark period in his life, including an incident of beginning the night in Ohio and waking up in Chicago. I had just gone through a similar (but not quite that extreme) episode of my own, so it struck home. This [...]

Ninebullets faves, Have Gun Will Travel are preparing to pack their duffel bags and set course for Denver, Colorado and Suburban Home's 16th Anniversary Party which is gonna crush and I am super bummed I won't be there. Anyhow, after the show they're teaming up with Micah Schnabel and tour back east and making a run down the east coast. Unfortunately their route currently has some holes in it. Check out the dates below and if you can help them fill one of the dates in bold holler at Virgil at Suburban Home Records . [...]

Last Friday I braved urban flood advisories, torrential rains, high winds and one big ass bridge to join Von for an episode of his podcast, Americana Rock Mix and drink all of his Maduro Brown Ale . The episode is a retrospective of the Suburban Home Records catalog with lots of rambling between me and Von injected between songs. The entire thing clocks in at nearly 2 hours and can be heard here . During the episode you'll hear multiple songs from; I Can Lick Any Sonofabitch [...]
