Francis Farewell Starlite is a bit of a renaissance man. He has production credits on Drake's "Karoake," is a fantastic singer/songwriter with three albums under his belt (including the incredible It'll Be Better ), scored the film Robot & Frank, and last, but not least, is a fantastic dancer with skills reminiscent of the late James Brown and Michael Jackson. With talent like this you can only imagine how painful these past two years have been without any new material from Francis and the Lights , but pain be gone because yesterday Francis [...]
Most Tuesdays are 'List' days at NH7. In the past we've put out lists like Top Metal Concept Albums , and 12 Must-Watch Music Documentaries , and Kvlt Watch at 5: 'Zombie' Cover Version s , and more. Today, while looking to create a radio-related list keeping in theme with our last Big Issue on Radio , and the recent launch of NH72s new UE Radio in partnership with Ultimate Ears, I looked to the Billboard Hot 100 for some inspiration (because the mainstream is basically indie v2.0. Deal with it). I [...]
No one buys albums anymore, goes the music industry truism. And yet, for all that the format's commercial viability may or may not be on the wane, sitting and listening to a great album from start to finish is one of the greatest pleasures that music can bring. Flavorwire recently got to thinking about how one might build a record collection if you really only did buy one record a year. So here's the result of our thought exercise: 50 albums you really should own, one a year from 1963 until the present day. Yes, of course this mean things [...]
Graham Parker, the Civil Wars, and more let the Jackson 5 classic back in your heart.
Thank Gob , it's Friday! Also, one year ago, today, Donna Summer , the Queen of Disco, passed away. So, in her honor, I've put together an 8-song playlist of Disco tunes for you folks. Press play and dance the night away... maybe go rollerskating and get a permanent.
Thank Gob , it's Friday! Also, one year ago, today, Donna Summer , the Queen of Disco, passed away. So, in her honor, I've put together an 8-song playlist of disco tunes for you folks. Press play and dance the night away... maybe go rollerskating and get a permanent, do that dance everyone boy and girl associated with disco where it looks you are taking apples out of a side satchel and placing them back on a tree with just your pointer finger. Either way, enjoy the music.

Now awaiting the postman’s knock in anticipation of my “Random Access Memories” delivery (for both vinyl and CD copies), Berlin’s Theatre Of Delays drops us a note in regards to his speedy ‘Doin’ It Right’ remix (from Daft Punk) which has more thought and energy thrown into it than nine lanes of 100 metre runners who are waiting to start their next race. Made from a place between time and space, Theatre Of Delays gives “The Robots” a slight nudge that falls into Grade A, masterpiece territory. “Since Daft Punk revealed to [...]

I've got to hand it to Stephen King. I've never read one of his books, and bits and pieces of Carrie , The Shining and Dolores Claiborne and all of Stand By Me and Misery aside, I've skipped the film and TV adaptations of his work, possibly because being scared has never been my idea of a blast, even when it's someone else whose life and limbs are in danger. Although I've had such minimal exposure to the best of King, I now have a newfound appreciation for [...]

So, its come down to me. This is the last installment of Our Favorite Songs of All Time list and if you haven't already, please check out everyone else's posts, they're great. I knew this was going to be difficult because there is an insane amount of music out there and since we were doing a list based on OUR favorite songs, nothing based off of other critics reviews or other lists, it made it that much more difficult. I built a list of songs based off of my favorite albums, I'd pick a song from a favorite album of [...]

The doctors who performed Michael Jackson's autopsy have revealed some pretty interesting information. For one, it turns out that he had his lips and eyebrows and hairline tattooed on, and also that he did suffer from skin disease vitiligo universalis. I don't actually know why everyone assumed that Michael Jackson was lying about having a skin disease and actually just bleaching his skin white. I mean, I definitely kind of thought it might be the case, but I'm not really sure why. Probably because it was just a thing that everyone said, and Michael Jackson did crazy things [...]
