Michael Zapruder 's most recent record, mouthfully entitled Dragon Chinese Cocktail Horoscope , provides pleasure on multiple levels. Most striking at first, at least to the ears of an engineer, is the abundance of successful production ideas. Zapruder and co-producer Scott Solter (John Vanderslice, The Mountain Goats) provide many juicy moments for the headphone set, but always in service of the song at hand. In support of the recently released Town Topic EP , Casiotone for the Painfully alone is hitting the road with Portland-based ambient group Concern on a tour of the rust belt. It probably bears mentioning that the two men behind the groups, Owen Ashworth (CFTPA) and Gordon Wilson Ashworth (Concern) are brothers and have collaborated in the past including on a limited release single put out by People In A Position To Know earlier this year.
