Well, I don't use this phrase often but the Tour de Cure turned into what can only be called a #EpicFAIL. First off, let me say thank you. Because of all of you, we raised $750 for diabetes research. THAT is pretty awesome, in my opinion, especially considering how little we pushed it this year (I just wasn't 100% that I'd be able to do it). Again, thank you! Okay, on to the disaster... I'll keep this relatively brief, as I really would like to put this behind me now. It goes a little something like this: [...]
Midas Fall - 17 Knew this would be getting a single release at some point. It's probably the most immediate song on 'Eleven, Return and Revert' - it's one of its highlights too, and now it's got a video to match.

For those of you out there who believe that the weather carries an influence on what you listen to, well then perhaps Midas Fall 's debut album should be better left on the shelf until autumn comes and the pervading darkness really sinks its teeth in. To be honest though, that's not really fair to this Scottish outfit hailing from Edinburgh. What we have going on with this somber post punk bunch is soaring guitars, ridiculously good drumming and equally noticeable vocals belting out from lead singer Elizabeth Heaton. In short, this [...]
From the Chaff (in reference to this idiom ) is a semi-regular series where we post things that might have otherwise slipped through the cracks. Whether it's singles, EPs or just MP3s that we like, it's a place for us to collect the things we've heard lately but haven't had a chance to write about yet. MP3 Woozy Viper - Look Out! Woozy Viper play a no-budget, no-frills version of rock & roll, the kind you [...]

Words: Gareth O'Malley The life of a music blogger is never dull. I'm constantly getting sent new things to listen to, and while something mediocre crops up every now and then, just as frequently something comes along that reminds why I got into reviewing in the first place, like this absolute gem of a debut album from Midas Fall . To start with, they are Scottish, or more precisely from Edinburgh. I ask myself, how the hell does Scotland keep producing such brilliant bands?! I've made no secret of my admiration for the scene up [...]

Edinburgh, Scotland's Midas Fall are a band that seems to have two speeds: Progressive pop and shoegaze ballad. And they're quite good at both. It's hard to find much information about them, though. Even the press material doesn't offer a whole lot of info. I can tell you that vocalist Elizabeth Heaton is the main reason to listen here-she's got a terrific voice-and whichever of the three guitarists plays the bubbling leads is a strong second. "Eleven. Return and Revert" appears to be the band's debut album. Give the single a try-I think you'll dig it. [...]
