Being billed as the UK's answer to Kings of Leon immediately lumps a rather large weight on the shoulders of London trio Them Changes. But nevertheless, that seems to be the word about town. Not bad for an act that started its life as Michael Kiwanuka's backing band. They eventually decided to form their own [...]

Having a full time job makes it difficult to post on here, oh well im ill today so here are a few exciting pieces of music i've been listening to this week... We Were Promised Jetpacks Seriously good, scottish Frightened Rabbit esque indie. Remind me a bit of the Walkmen as well. Album comes out next Monday (15th), definately worth buying, its awesome. Here a couple of tracks for you to preview. We Were Promised Jetpacks-It's Thunder and It's Lightning We Were Promised Jetpacks-Conductor [...]
Would have posted this yesterday ... but it was Friday. That's not really an excuse, but it's what I'm using. Basicaly, the Maccabees (who we should ALL know of) are releasing a new album this year. Their first album was brilliant, and I can't wait for their second. For some strange reason the general public doesn't seem to like them too much, either that or they have a shit marketing team at whatever label they're at. The album got to #24 in the charts and their highest chart position of the 7 singles they've released is lowly at [...]

last night was beyond amazing. academy is a great venue, milburn were so special. fantastic setlist (the above copy isnt mine lol). it was incredibly emotional, especially what about next time, the start of count to 10, rudiments!!!!, roll out the barrel and mostly what you could've won, which means so much to me its crazy. joe (carnall) was holding back the tears in wychw. WELL DONE TO EVERYONE WHO DOWNLOADED 17!! just look at this, the 7digital download charts and its not too late to [...]

Milburn-What You Could've Won if you dont know milburn, then this is a great song to get you started, and if you like it, download 17!!
Day 2 I am taking a chronoligical (ish) approach to the next 6 days of Milburn goodness... ...starting with an old demo about a friendly tramp in town..... Milburn-Parachute Pete (demo) also, if you havent done yet, then download 17!! click on the banner at the top of this post for full instructions!! i bought it 4 times so far lol. bon iver, rifles, and more death cab coming sooooon....

As you probably already know, Milburn announced they were splitting in March, with 2 final gigs this week, the second at the new Academy in Sheffield this Saturday. To commemorate probably the most important band (ok maybe 2nd most) of my life, i will post a milburn song every day of the week. Milburn made amazing music, and with better promotion and media support they could have broken the charts, not that that was vitally important, most of the chart indie at the moment (pigeon detectives, ting tings, courteeners etc) are nothing on milburn. For one [...]
News from that other Sheffield-based band that I like, Milburn , is that, after just a few short years together, they're calling it quits. Grr! From the boys: It may not come as a great surprise to many of you but unfortunately after much consideration we’ve decided that Milburn has run it’s course. There’s been no malice or falling out between us and we still remain friends and supporters of each other as we move on and explore new musical horizons. Not everyone in the music media understood us [...]

This week, I've gone back to a few artists from last week's mixtape because they were great (The Dimes, Minipop, Maia Hirasawa), then trown in a couple radio-play wonders (Jack Johnson, The Wombats), and sprinkled with several newbies. I've been having trouble this week with a couple of plugins I wrote for WordPress- so if you happen to notice somethings not working properly let me know, would ya? Otherwise, I'm just drawing a blank for things to say. Download the mixtape, listen, enjoy, comment, and I'll be back after the weekend. Tracklisting: [...]

Being stuck in the office for fourteen to sixteen hours a day for the last ten days has not been fun. At all. There is something uniquely depressing about an office, no matter how relaxed and informal, when everyone else has gone home and you are drinking the same piss-poor instant coffee you were drinking at three in the afternoon. At ten o'clock at night, that coffee ceases to be a welcome five minute break and becomes something much more demoralising. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Proper Job, I really do. But after having done nothing but [...]
