We've had seven sunny weekends in a row, which must be some kind of record for the Northwest. As such, it's been the perfect time to take out the Bimmer. And in related news, Andi's dad thought it would be a fun project to spend a weekend sanding it down and giving it a new paint job. Score. Now on to music: Stuarto, the host leading into my 10pm Friday night show at KSVR and KSVU, and I have been concocting plans. These brief quarter-hour strategy sessions that take place [...]

If you've been living under a rock for the past several years, then perhaps Riverboat Gamblers is a band you've never heard of, but those of us in Texas have long been witness to the rockers. They've just announced their latest LP, The Wolf You Feed , and they're currently offering up this rad new single for your ears. If the music isn't enough to get you going, then also take to heart that the group has fleshed out their sound with the help of another notable Texas punk, [...]

It's time to check out a bunch of the tracks I have not posted recently. These are just a few of the songs that would get their own individual posts here on GIMME TINNITUS if I only had the time. Here is the next NOT POSTED mix. Listen. Downloadables: Where Are The Cities (mp3) by Rayon Beach Wait For Us (mp3) by Mind Spiders Do Right (mp3) by Milk [...]

Day One was fun. Day Two, however, was met with a splitting sinus headache and stories of crowded photo pits with iPhones and friends of the friends of the bands that got in as "Press". Such is the festival atmosphere. It is like an insurance conference where normal human beings sometimes get a little nuts. Regardless, we had a punch list and we were going to punch it. Head past the break for a few notes and plenty of pics. Nathan: I [...]
Who has time to watch a full movie anyway? Microwave a mini-bag of popcorn and watch Mind Spiders' music video "Wait for Us."
Filed under: Monthly Mixtape Flickr March is over. The trees are budding early, the flowers are blooming into a bounty of spring colors, Valdimir Putin is the president of Russia again, Rush Limbaugh called a respectable human being a "slut" and the earth ticks ever closer to the end of times. So what better way to await the arrival of the alien drone destroyers than this kick-ass mixtape. After you buy extra water and batteries, unplug [...]

The Burlington is a one, dark venue. Aside from the soundboard and the bar in the back, the only lights came in the form of green and reddish orange, emanating from the stage itself. Shadows danced across the wall behind the stage in a creepy fashion as assorted band members from Mind Spiders and their openers, Magic Milk , flailed about with their designated instruments. A somewhat spooky scene for what was an aggressive yet fun set from each band. In a space as small as The Burlington's, a [...]

New video from Mind Spiders that does a good job laying out the trippy Theremin-style opening of the tune that transfers into the (moon) rock ... <!-- <!-- <!--

Another variety show, no particular theme. It was set to be a sunny weekend, and that meant hitting the road. After a late Friday night at the station, I woke up early, grabbed my bike and went on a solid 10 mile ride. It was the first of the sort for 2012; the first of many. I need to get in shape for the 200 mile Seattle to Portland ride in July. Just about half way, I paused to snap the shot above. The Skagit Valley is known [...]

Mind Spiders are a bit out there, with wild synth-based music that conjoins 60s pop sensibilities with heavy late 70s garage rock. Their video for "Wait For Us" is similarly out there, the premise being "A reclusive man sends a distress beacon to catch his ticket off an abandoned planet" . Featuring a two-minute drone intro by Mark Ryan (who also stars in the band and in the film as "Spaceman 13) before launching into the song. It's definitely worth a watch and has a nice little twist toward the end that should not be all [...]

THIS WEEK'S BEST BET: Alcest w/ Deafheaven, Überchriist Tuesday, March 13 529 - 529 Flat Shoals Avenue in Atlanta 30316 $8 ADV / $10 DOS / Purchase Tickets Atmospheric metal-gazers Alcest conspire to lead you through a dreamy and surreal journey with ambient tones combining with elements of black metal and shoegaze to create music that is both beautiful and, occasionally, bone-crushing. Mind Spiders latest LP, Meltdown , is stuffed to the brim with "sensory overload" punk rock; the sort that you can really feel in your bones and soul. To further support the release, the band has issued a new video for "Wait For Us". If you've ever seen Val Kilmer parade his astronaut ass around Mars in 20002s Red Planet , then you'll know how shitty it is to be stranded alone on a planet. Director Jason Reimer capitalizes on that idea here and it's quite a true genius of a video. Ha, see [...]
"A reclusive man sends a distress beacon to catch his ticket off an abandoned planet," reads the plot synopsis of Texas garage ensemble Mind Spiders' video for "Wait For Us," which is pretty much the best, eeriest possible jump-off for a sci-fi-tinged clip. The set is MST3K -like in it's clever, homemade fashion, where performance footage is spliced with a tale of astronaut intrigue and escape. Jason Reimer directs. Watch it below. Read More...

Mind Spiders - On The Radio Mind Spiders - Fall In Line I've been listening to the nostalgic yet fresh and fantastic lo-fi garage rock goodness on Meltdown for a few days now, and this lil' baby's got me drooling all over its booming guitar hooks and swirly sci-fi synths and surf-rock swing (that's best listened to while hopped-up on goofballs and bouncing off the walls), so turn up the volume and put this thing on repeat, ok kiddos? [...]

Everyone is using strobe lights at their shows. Seriously. From Van Halen to The Flaming Lips, just about every concert venue posts little warnings at their entrances about the effects of strobes and its potential damage to particular human brains. Sensory overload and what not. That is the very sensation you get from listening to Mind Spiders ' new record, Meltdown . Sensory overload without the hospital bills and you can walk around after listening without too many pesky aftershocks, unless you had those headphones turned up too loud. Mark Ryan's outfit now comes equipped with not-a-one, but [...]
