I am so irritated with feedburner right now that I apologize if this post comes out shitty - but the feed is fixed so that's enough for me. Kind of. Moving on: So when I was like 15 I listened to emo. But not like, the Fall Out Boy/My Chemical Romance stuff that isn't really emo. [...]

>> Superman Revenge Squad recently recorded a radio session for Earwax Radio and Wax-Music has posted here a stream of the show. Even better the site has posted an MP3 of a solid take on the Croydon, England-based band's -- well, Ben Parker's, as he is the sole member of his Squad -- track "Idiot Food." This performance is particularly notable because Mr. Parker -- usually the best kind of dark and cynical pessimist -- here sounds almost optimistic. This is nowhere more true than when he intones the final words "we're both doing [...]

Emo came rather late to me, around July of 2001. By then, most of the bastions of the old guard ha lost much of their luster or were already sent to the industry scrap heap. Mineral's supposed deal with Interscope had fallen through, The Get Up Kids had traded in the art of synchronised jumping in favour of acoustic guitars, and MTV was starting to take notice. But there was something about those pre-millennium emo albums that was just a notch above the chasing pack. Maybe it's cause they do sound like they are often [...]
Way before what teens today think of as emo, the term was shorthand for emotional hardcore. It was not a dirty word that referred to the lifestyle that gets so much negative press these days. Originating in the Washington, DC music scene of the mid-1980's, some so-called "first-wave" emo or emocore bands included Rites of Spring, Embrace, and Moss Icon. Then came Fugazi (featuring ex-members of Rites of Spring and Embrace), Jawbox, and so on from there... This is (according to me) a brief history of emo in music only. Yes, it will be incomplete in some [...]
After hearing the news last week that Texas Is The Reason is re-forming for a show here in New York next month, I got to thinking about all of the other emo bands I used to love. I had a 4-year period (1998-2002) where emo, or post-punk as we liked to call it, was pretty much the main (sub)genre of music I was listening to. Since 2002, though, I really haven't listened to a whole lot of emo.

I can't speak for Bradley, but I can safely say for myself that I have suffered heartache. Nothing too recent or anything, but it's there. Anyway , I understand that although wallowing one's self in heartbreaking music may not help to heal the wound, it still gives a sense of sickening comfort. So, wallow, all you broken hearts, and listen to these songs that will undoubtedly aid you on your quest for ultimate indulgence in pain. mp3 Dashboard Confessional- Standard Lines mp3 The Get Up Kids- The [...]
