Big Night (1996) To thine own self be true. Yes, I'm still on a Hamlet kick, but the Bard does give us many life lessons, even though we'd rather remove our own gall bladders with oyster forks when we first read him. It's not Shakespeare's fault, rather, the missed opportunities English teachers have in supplementing Big Willie's plays with films that present his themes in a more palatable context for modern society. To be true to one's self has, in our modern sensibilities, become an imperative to live without [...]

Over the past week my pal, and multiple Lammy award winning blogger, The Mad Hatter has been conducting a The King of Pain blog-a-thon on his site The Dark of the Matinee . The blog-a-thon consist of Hatter diving into his wife's side of the DVD shelf and subjecting himself to the films in her collection which he deemed painful. Needless to say the merging of their DVD collections will not be occurring anytime soon. Being the masochist that Hatter is, he has invited his fellow movie bloggers to [...]

In the movies, they come in all shapes and sizes -- from the superfan to the pretentious snob to the music-obsessed loner -- but there's a little bit of [...]

I know the rest of the cover bloggers are vehemently against this post but I believe all these artists are multi-talented and deserve any recognition than can get. I mean it's not like I'm posting about Britney Spears here. Recently Fong Songs did a wonderful post on Zooey Deschanel which got me thinking about all the actors/musicians out there. Some of these multi-talented celebrities have opted for music over acting but some have managed to keep both going strong. So to start off we'll go with Zooey Deschanel . Zooey is best known [...]

Minnie Driver was the reason I started this weekly feature. Mostly because I actually liked her debut album of dreamy pop songs. Her new album isn't as dreamy (although I do find Minnie looking as dreamy as ever). Ryan Adams helps Minnie with some guitar work, moral support and indie cred. Listen: Stars & Satellites How To Be Good (with Ryan Adams) Beloved (with Ryan Adams) RIYL: Minnie Driver, Minnie Mouse, Minnie The Moocher Further study: Website [...]
