Autumn Owls – The Button Factory The nature of the Hard Working Class Heroes festival means that there are always going to be bands who fall victim to an unfortunate scheduling slot. Dublin band Autumn Owls early-evening gig in The Button Factory may have failed to draw in the masses, but that didn't stop them from putting on a fine show for those who did make it along. The first half of the set is a very sombre affair - all moody and atmospheric, with The Button Factory's impressive smoke 'n' lights set-up working to [...]

Words: Gareth O'Malley I noticed something about Bar Ritz as a venue almost as soon as I got inside and got settled - ten minutes before doors opened. No, I do not have 'special privileges'; it was something that needed to be done to accommodate my recent knee injury. So I was sprawled out on the couch next to the mixing desk, and then it hit me. If you're not right up there, near the front and in the thick of it, the venue can seem rather strange, and I couldn't help but think that [...]

After a gruelling 65 date tour in 2009, Miracle Bell , along with producer Ciaran Bradshaw (Ollie Cole, Dark Room Notes) at the helm, abandoned the live circuit to record debut Light Shape Sound . Clocking in at just under 35 minutes, Kildare's electro kids' debut is seemingly an impressive first assault on the airwaves. But after a few listens, rather than growing on the listener, the band's influences and peers begins to shine through their synth sound, comparisons all too easy to recognise. The tracks, when not containing vague taints of Foals, smack [...]

Really good album from Indie - Electro Kildare three piece 'Miracle Bell'. It's surprisingly full of charm and melodies! 'Light Shape Sound' is in many ways similar to Foals and Vampire Weekend and it's a really good album. There are many tracks on the album which should make mainstream radio airplay such as 'Love Sounds', 'You and I' and the single 'Fit For You'. The album's full of electro melodies, singalong choruses and charm such as the best track is the song 'You're Not [...]
