The latest band to carry the 80s synth revival torch is New York duo Ghost Beach . The group's new single, "Miracle", merges the laid back electronics of Neon Indian with the playful summertime rhythms of Best Coast. The simple high-pitched, lo-fi guitar riff that opens the song lays a peppy foundation that's immediately accompanied by a bass and electric key beat fit for driving up an ocean freeway with the windows down. The steady grooves were built for sunny day chilling, and Josh Ocean's vocals cut the sweetness with a hint of poppy acidity. The pair has concocted [...]

![Album Reviews By 12-Year-Olds: Two Minute Miracles – The Lions Of Love [(weewerk), 2007]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/4188153_lg.jpg)
For more information about album review by 12 year olds, click here This is my review of the cd The Two Minute Miracles , the Lions of Love . I found the cd had a different tempo in every song. Most cds or albums have the same tempo. Personally I found the album odd at times and the story in many songs was funny. As an example, The Minus Ball is written as a love song about Guelph ON. It seems to [...]
This has to be one of the most trippy videos I've seen in a minute. Stones Throw's Homeboy Sandman dropped this set of visuals today for the track "The Miracle" off of his Subject Matter EP. It was directed by Steve Smith who became a Stones Throw video director after winning one of their contests for a Dilla video. Peep the video above and catch the download of the track below... "Ah yes, the sentence was awesome." The Homeboy Sandman is pretty ill. I definitely dig his style of kind off-kilter and free-association Hip Hop, especially as we move into the summer months. This just feels good in warm weather. Here is his second new piece of material of the week with "The Miracle", a new video directed by Steve Smith. Watch it below.

Woaaaah! Hold on to your hats ladies & gentlemen as we have another NASA type launch from our dear rocket boosting buddies, The Dirty Tees. Featuring a watertight blend of equal placed vocal and equal placed backing from Miss Bedingfield (singing her heart out with a Fragma anthem & TDT helped cover), who says not watching your dirty shirts is a bad thing?? All eyes on this one – if you please! THE DIRTY TEES feat. NATASHA BEDINGFIELD – Miracle

It's hard to consider Radar Eyes' self-titled debut anything other than a pop record. While Radar Eyes is an amalgamation of garage, psychedelic and punk rock, the band manages to tightly piece those distinct sounds together. The album maybe rough around the edges tonally, but it's crystal clear in delivering a melodic palette, which provides just the right amount of catchiness and accessibility without losing that rock and roll edge. While Radar Eyes touch on the acidic nature of Spacemen 3 or [...]

Apes & Horses are a 4-piece band out of Paris, France. Right now the band is somewhat of a mystery and a little bit undercover (See Picture Above). I did find a couple of videos online that had me gasping in excitement. The first video is for a song titled 'The Fields' and it was performed live in Paris while they were supporting WU LYF on tour. The song is a groovy french jam that shows the bands already strong stage presence. 'Miracles' is the other song that they have floating around online and it [...]

MP3 A track from the new 6-track EP from New York's Homeboy Sandman. He's got a pretty bold description for it, too: "6 rap songs with content no one has ever rapped about before in the history of rap music. Unfortunately not a very difficult thing to do." I dunno about that . I'm not saying everything's been said, and I do agree that hip hop has come clear lyrical cliches, but does Sandman bring my mind to newer lyrical planes? Well, sorta, I guess. He's definitely got some eccentric verses, loaded with [...]

Montreal based musician and producer Miracle Fortress (Graham Van Pelt) has been making poppy electronic tunes since 2005. However, just this past year, Miracle Fortress released their long awaited sophomore album Was I The Wave? The album was created in complete isolation like Graham's first, Five Roses , and reflects that in its intricate melodies that demonstrate themes of alienation, anonymity, and the desire for the assurances of intimacy. The tracks from Five Roses have an ethereal feel tinged with a childlike sadness. Was I The Wave? as a whole, seems to have [...]

I was introduced to The Smiles earlier this year through their insanely catchy, breezy "Cala Cola." Now under a different name , the band has a new EP that is free on bandcamp. Check out "Pretend" below and head over to their bandcamp page to find both their eps for free. Think beach rock with some Vampire Weekend preppiness, Beach Boys sensibility and a dash of Good Old War . MP3: The Miracles: Pretend Bonus: MP3: The Miracles: Cala Cola

So, I started recording one song per set at every show I went to this year (provided that I was in the mood to hold up a recording device) and put the recordings up on the youtubes on a channel called GIMMETINNITUSTUBE . And now here's more best of 2011 coverage with our favorite 9 GIMMETINNITUSTUBE recordings. Watch + Listen. Streamable: I Hated School (Live @ Legion Bar ) (youtube) by Night Manager [...]
