Aaron Matthews is currently working on his debut album, "Human League Back." Graham Van Pelt has an interesting relationship with the past. The Montreal based singer/songwriter's new album feels like nostalgia for an era that he's too young to remember. It's a hazy reminiscence that comes from digging through your parents' records or your brother's cassettes. Was I The Wave? engages the music of the late 70s and early 80s in a similar way to how Miracle Fortress's debut Five Roses riffed on 60s pop and [...]

Miracle Parade may not be Christopher Pappas' first venture into the world of music-making, but this alter ego of sorts is quite a distinguishable one. With his finger on the pulse of what it means to be considered a singer-songwriter today, he takes the core ideals of crafting music and puts his own sweet flavor onto it. His debut album as Miracle Parade , "Hark!...and Other Lost Transmissions", will be released on the Little Record Company label on June 20th. To celebrate this release, he held an in-store record release party at Origami Vinyl on June 17th. Also, Miracle [...]

The stars have aligned just right for me as of late. You see, I often peruse the local concert listings because I sometimes like to go to musical events in the evenings to break up the mundane and repetitive nature of a 9-5 job (which I only wish was actually 9-5). There are often bills full of acts that I've never heard of, or that I'd maybe heard of and never listened to, and I usually skip right over those because I'm not that adventurous and because there are plenty of other shows that I want to go [...]

When XLR8R first caught wind of The Miracles Club , we had our doubts. Granted, we were already fans of Honey Owens and her droney, experimental work as Valet and as a member of Nudge--we even made her the subject of an episode of XLR8R TV a couple years ago. But Honey [...]
It's a full-up Friday: ► U2 . The scrappy band from Ireland. Angel Stadium. ► The Wooden Birds , the latest project from American Analog Set's Andrew Kenny, bring something of an all-star lineup to the Echo for a show in support of their new album "Two Matchsticks." Kenny's lineup is populated by three members of Matt Pond PA (Pond himself, Leslie Sisson and Chris Haskins), along with drummer Sean Haskins. The early show also has two great L.A. support acts, A House For Lions and Daniel Ahearn . [...]
I have a theory for the origins of the current glut of indie pop: it's easy to write feel-good, carefree summer jams with pleasant melodies and arrangements. People aren't that hard to please in this regard. If you sound nice, there's probably a market for you. Was I The Wave? , which was released very under the radar over a month ago, falls squarely in this category. It's just an album of catchy summer tunes that never ventures away from its celestial retro highs, and a mutually exclusive comity between depth and ambiance means it's a triumph of sound [...]

Christopher Pappas of the Everyday Visuals is embarking on a new project that will hereafter be known as Miracle Parade . His first release under this new moniker, Hark!…And Other Lost Transmissions , is set to drop on June 21st on Little Record Company, a sassy little boutique label operated by Rilo Kiley's Pierre de Reeder. MOKB is thrilled to be premiering the video for the lead single of Hark!…And Other Lost Transmissions . The clip for The Dying Physicist is [...]

Steve Moore from Zombi and Daniel O'Sullivan from Sunn O))) have started a new band and called it Miracle. From the sound of the track below they are peddling a darkened side of electronic pop . They have an EP, 'Visitors', due for release on the 4th July. Anyway here's the video:

Toronto - Miracle Fortress is a side project by Graham Van Pelt, keyboardist of Think About Life . Van Pelt hails from Montreal and is touring after the release of his sophomore album Was I the Wave off Secret City Records . I went into this show expecting more of a shoe gaze, electronic sound. Miracle Fortress is from Montreal after all and those French people love their electronic music (Chromeo etc.). I was pleasantly surprised with the 80s, pop show that Miracle Fortress put on. Van Pelt's voice has [...]

Ah, the Swedes and their ethereal loveliness. If you agree with that statement, you'll most likely enjoy The Whendays' reworking of The Miracles Club 's 'Light Of Love'. The Whendays are from Sweden, if I didn't make that abundantly clear. If you're a fan of the original, you'll probably be surprised by just how little of it features in this remix. It's a bloody good-un mind, so you'll probably still enjoy the tech-house bleeps and clicks anyway. Between the dreamy basslines, sparkling synths and space beat it's a glorious throwback to classic house music, before [...]

Miracle Fortress was in Ottawa on June 10, 2011. Opened up for Junior Boys at Mavericks. I was very excited to see Miracle Fortress since the new album " Was I the Wave? " came out a few weeks ago. Impressed with the new sound on the album. It was a fun set with a trippy laser lights during parts of the set. This time he had a drummer which made the sound alot better than just solo. [...]

Synthpop love for today! A friend of mine recommended me this new band called Miracle , which he found on NME. Yes, it's 80s pop again, and it reminds Hurts, too. But I find them pretty likeable. The debut video "The Visitor" is directed by Blake Claridge. Preview more tracks here:
