There has been no shortage of support within the music community for the ongoing Occupy movements. Mirah recently teamed up with Real Vocal String Quartet to perform a few songs in a redwood grove at UC Berkeley. For those who enjoyed the videos of this intimate performance, there is another opportunity to see both acts once again. A few months ago, Mirah teamed up with the Real Vocal String Quartet for a performance in a redwood grove at UC Berkeley. If you missed it, one of my all-time favorite female songwriters Mirah teamed up for a co-op release with Thao earlier this year. She recently sat down with the good people over at Sleepover Shows to perform two solo tracks from it. Blankets and folding chairs provided an apt backdrop for Mirah and her verdant songs. Religious Girls On July 26th, The Bay Bridged and Tiny Telephone Studios put together the first annual Phono del Sol Music and Food Festival. The fest was held at the little known Potrero del Sol Park, free of charge. Merrill Garbus of Tune Yards has had a busy year. Her w h o k i l l album is one of the big highlights of 2011, but she also took time out to produce the eponymously titled record by Thao & Mirah, which received positive word on its release back in April.
