photos by Erik Erikson "...It's time to stop calling Mission of Burma an "influential band"... ...Of course they are influential, but did you suffer ear trauma and go deaf right before May 2004? Burma tipped their musical output scales towards NEW compared to OLD in 2009!... About eight or nine songs in [to the Music Hall of Williamsburg show on 1/19], I turned to my cousin and my girlfriend, (the usual Burma crew: we've probably seen Burma together [...]
[Mission of Burma (and Shepherdess) at the Brighton Music Hall, Allston, MA 1/20 and 1/21/2012. Photos by Michael Piantigini.] Mission of Burma are a national goddamn treasure. When I'm President, I'm going to come up with some medal to give them like the one they gave McCartney where they have to do a Command Performance at the White House. Ten years, thirteen days, and three albums or so into their reunion, Burma have been back at it for more than twice as long as their original run and, judging [...]

EULA has now been tapped to open for Mission of Burma at Music Hall of Williamsburg on Jan. 19th. Tickets are $20 and doors are at 8PM. Punk rock trio EULA have posted videos from recent appearances on WFMU and BreakThru Radio and the band is playing a couple local shows next month. The band released their latest disc, Maurice Narcisse , this past May which Paper Garden Records described as " a playful treatise on pretension, part lamenting part castigating the metaphorical 'character' for his egotism. Alyses' punching lyrics find their match in aggressive drums and plunging melodies, so despite the aforementioned woes, Maurice Narcisse is an undeniably fun listen. Give a listen to the record's titular track, a smoldering, discombobulated pop song [...]

![(Thanksgiving) Boston Music Miscellany [Buffalo Tom, Cuffs, One Happy Island, Mission of Burma, Travels, Wheat]](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3886265_lg.jpg)
Thanksgiving. Great holiday or The Greatest Holiday? No gift-giving or gift-taking required, just a day to surround yourself with family, eat to your belly's content, and enjoy some calm before the impending onslaught of rampant consumerism. This long holiday weekend always helps me put things in perspective, gives me a break from sweating all that small stuff, and lets me appreciate all that I have. Which includes two fully functioning ears, lots of Boston-made music to put in them, and a place to write about it... If you're [...]

ALBUM REVIEW: There are a lot of fuzz-o-gistics going on with Black Wine's Summer of Indifference from their familiar So Cals sounds at times that are mixed with some Mission of Burma and then there are these epic zen-arcadian moments that just rip up the planks. There are also dark pop gems like "Maycrowing" with Miranda their drummer singing who's narrative like storytelling style evens out the Milo-esque keel in this vessel. In earnest all the vocal melodies drive this underground popish outfit. It's a very fine roast [...]
