In effort to raise awareness about upcoming releases as well as finding a place for the numerous submissions we get, this post continues our weekly purging of free and legal MP3's for your listening enjoyment. The number of tracks will fluctuate each week depending on the songs uncovered or sent. It's our hope that you'll find a new favorite or another release to keep your eyes on. MP3: King of Prussia - "Misadventures of the Campaign Kids" [from Save the Scene ; now [...]

We get hundreds of press releases on a daily basis to our inbox. We love the music and the press agents and labels are sending us truly awesome stuff but it's really hard writing about each and every cool band. So I wanted to share some quick notes with you guys while I listen to music. I have to add that it's quite refreshing to see that the promoters out there are doing a great job sending us music that really connects with what The Plugg is all about. Thanks! [...]
Amid our typical Post-Grammy outrage, Miwa Gemini popped into our email, peaked our interest and renewed our hope. "New York chanteuse Miwa Gemini, takes on the darkest affairs of the heart with a saccharine smile and haunting vocals you won't...

Fri. 02/08 The Buddy System [40W] Fifth show of our friends from the Buddy System , and a new animation ! TBS keep their CMYK trademark, but exit the cats, the cute monsters and evil horses. This time, Mat and Lauren's actual profiles appear face-to-face in their respective color, each pronouncing part of the lyrics. Musical departure as well from TBS ' usual pop, as the song ends in a tribute to 2-tone (well, with some [...]

Miwa Gemini is another female singer/song writer to get my attention (I seem to be easily swayed). She represents New York but has been touring across Ontario and her album "This Is How I Found You" has been out here for some time. This album actually hits the US + Europe on March 18 so while there is some time there's a chance to give some pre-release hype. Going with my occasional unknown type of artist, I was a bit mixed upon hearing Miwa Gemini's stuff. Some folk based music doesn't usually reel me in right away [...]

What a crazy week. It actually snowed in Atlanta, enough so that a friend of mine was able to make a mini-snowman. My brake lights stopped working, thanks to a well-known design fault in the brake pedal switch that activates them. Thankfully, the repairs were covered under a recall, and the snow melted before the lights went out. Except for the Counting Crows, this week's artists are all pretty much new to me- and they're all great. It's like a musical vacation for your ears. Start out in the UK with the slowhand blues of Back Door Slam's [...]

Omg, it's back! Miwa Gemini - Crazy Over You I only heard Miwa's music for the first time a few days ago, but I'm already enthralled. Imagine a slightly more soft-voiced Nina Simone picking up a guitar and making gorgeous, low-key indie-pop. I made a post about her earlier this week, which features two other track worth checking out. Chris Mason - Better Lush singer/songwriter material from Australia. [...]

Cute as a button and talented as few, Miwa Gemini is a breath of fresh air to the female "singer-song writer" stable. Her voice is sweet, yet deep, and her folk-music stands out from the crowd thanks to the use of banjo and mandolin. It's a bit like throwing The Mountain Goats together with Nina Simone and Tom Waits: hazy, organic, and simply stunning. Miwa's second full-length album, "This Is How I Found You", is already out in Canada, but a US and Europe release is scheduled for March 18, 2008. And I highly recommend [...]
