The Sonar warm up gig is in London on May 15th with tasty electronic morsels such as Jeff Mills, Plaid, Erol Alkan and Moderat to name a few. Should be a belter. I've recently been listening to a lot of Modeselektor so it will be good to see his new venture with Apparat. Here's a little taster off their new album which is out next Monday (11th May). Love this track. Moderat – A New Error /myspace Sonar @ The Roundhouse
Nobody Listens to Techno is back! I couldn't keep hiding behind the "file host isn't working" excuse any longer (seriously, it was messed up for awhile though...), plus the tunes have been piling up during the downtime. In the interest of keeping the small talk to the minimum, I'll get back to...

Moderat is the collaboration of two prominent German electronic artists - Modeselektor and Apparat . They started the group a few years back and put out a notable release then took a break and went onto each gain notoriety with their solo acts. Now they're back together and have released a debut self titled album. If you are familiar with both artists you can expect that there's no dance floor bangers on this one. Largely atmospheric, sometimes peaceful, sometimes industrious, sometimes instrumental, but occasionally some vocals find their way in. My favorite "vocalized" track has to [...]

Let me begin with the almost trademark brilliant live video. Interest fact: I had a dream I was playing hide and seek with this person. Even as a massive Bjork fan I'm willing to admit that seen in the wrong light some of her music is a bit silly and the pretentiousness surrounding her can get a bit tiresome. But the main reason critics, fans and converts continue to worship her is due to her staggering talent. In a music business where something truly unique is [...]

Lots of new releases this week, but none that I'm particularly excited about. Though, I am a little intrigued with A Camp , a collaboration between Nina Persson of The Cardigans , and Niclas Frisk. At this point, I will pretty much listen to anything Persson is involved with. Some other notable releases include Bob Dylan's Together Through Life (his 46th album!), Thee Oh Sees' Help , Immaculate Machine's High , Still Flyin's Never Gonna Touch The Ground , and Japandroids' [...]

Our quarter-century podcast is all about new releases. We've got superb new tasty tunes from Hudson Mohawke, Montreal's Clues (whose debut is worth checking out), a song from the already-lauded Suckers EP, a song from the new Starfucker EPlum, a track from David Kitt's new one The Nightsaver and towards the dancier end of the spectrum: brand new tunes from Clark, Moderat, The Juan Maclean and I shit you not, a surprising song from the Twilight soundtrack. Aoife Mc is your podhost - check out her new food blog - I Can Has [...]

This is a fairly light week, relatively speaking. Releases of particular note, though, include Crocodiles' Summer of Hate , which we've got streaming all week , Japandroids' Post-Nothing , which Insound has the vinyl exclusive on (it's vinyl and digital only), and a few great new vinyl reissues of some classic albums, including Pulp's This Is Hardcore , Townes Van Zandt's Live at the Old Quarter , and two seminal Flipper albums . The sad news [...]

Every week we team up with our good friends at Hypeful to bring you the week's best new album releases. There's quite a bit to choose from this week so check out some of the streams and MP3's posted after the jump before you make your decision. If we've left anything off the list feel free to let us know in the comments section. Also, I know of at least one person who is going to be nail-spitting angry that my "Pick of the Week" wasn't the Dylan album, but I haven't heard it and there's [...]

"If you ever have it available for purchase or there's another showing, LET ME KNOW." "I'm working on some ways to get you guys hooked up with Japan (no joke!)." "great movie. great SOUNDTRACK!" "we both really liked it. really brought techno to life in a way no other film has." "Loved the music, the interviews, and the camerawork." "It captivated us from beginning to end!" "really loved the movie. I wouldn't say this if it wasn't true, but it was incredibly well done and I thought the [...]

Modeselekto and Apparat team up to create Moderat and the result is well, moderat-ely deflating. It's just more of the same old stuff. There's nothing really inspiring and it sounds a bit flat but maybe that's becuase I was sent a promo in Mono. It's never good to hold the reviewer in contempt. The final product doubtless sounds a lot better than the version I received, it's just a shame I couldn't get to hear it! On the plus side BPitch control have made arguably the best track on the album 'A New Error' availabe as [...]

Moderat is formed by Modeselektor and Apparat as everyone knows. They are releasing their 1st album "Moderat" is on 20th of April, which is TODAY! So, let's celebrate it together. My first impression of this album is "OK" to be honest. I like Modeselektor.Especially, tracks like "Suckerpin", "Black Block" (from album"Happy Birthday"). I was expecting tracks like those on the album but realised this is not only Modeselektor :P. There are good tracks like "A New Error","Seamonkey" though things like "Slow Match" doesn't really ring MY bell. The more I listen to it [...]

I wanted to tell you guys about a few of the tracks I've been digging lately. It's already proving to be a great year in music, and I am just immersing myself in everything that's been coming out. Here's some of the best stuff of the last little while. Yusek's album was brilliant and one of the best tracks was his previous single "Tonight". He had already released an EP for it, but he just released another one. This remix was featured on that EP. RAC has been doing [...]

The Bpitch trio have made a 'Moderat Medley' available to stream...

Exciting news - Nobody Listens to Techno is headed to Berlin! We've been dreaming about visiting Berlin for a while now - with it being, you know, only the center of the world for the kind of music we love, but it just wasn't possible financially or logistically. We had moved it to our "Things to...
