Há dez anos um grupo de cinco novaiorquinos chamado The Strokes lançou Is This It . The Modern Age , que emprestou [...]

Since arriving in New York City for the summer, I've been listening to The Strokes' Is This It religiously. Their debut is sonically infatuating no matter the locale; however, it gains a complete re-appreciation when listened to passing scores of yellow taxi cabs, sewer drains that smell like a fat man's asscrack and cramped brownstone apartments. It's not only important because it sounds good, but also because it's emblematic of The Big Apple. Certain musical pundits offer that The Strokes' Is This It's place in music history is only secure because [...]

![[Introducing] – Erik Estrada's Career Crisis](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3329937_lg.jpg)
In a recent interview, James Murphy, the mastermind behind LCD Soundsystem was asked what band he expected to fill the gap left by LCD Soundsystem's retirement this weekend at MSG. His response: Erik Estrada's Career Crisis. That's right, the kids are mining second-rate, late-70s TV shows for their band names now. Regardless, the real question is whether these Poncherello-worshippers can live up to Murphy's accolades. And the answer is a resounding YES! "EECC," the debut EP from this foursome from Knoxville, Tennessee, immediately calls to mind The Strokes ' "The Modern Age" EP. [...]

We're packing up the car and heading up the coast. The gang is getting rallied together from all over the northeast. We'll be spending one of the last weekends of the summer in a one-story house tucked in a neighborhood where people park on their lawns and burn meat in their backyards. When in Rome ...1,500 miles to south, in Miami's buergeoning (yes, kind of) indie-rock scene, Modernage will be

Miami band Modernage apart from being great friends have been rocking the Miami music scene for quite some time. Opening up for big acts like Bloc Party, The Walkmen, The Stills, Elefant and playing all the big parties along the way. Doing us locals proud! For some reason they've slipped our Radar. Could've sworn I had written about them before. Recently local Miami DJ Ryan Evans remixed their track 'Creatures' off of their latest [...]

Miami band Modernage has the nerve to name their new EP after they guy who shot Robert Kennedy in 1968. Sirhan Sirhan is filled with danceable indie rock that most likely will turn up as a footnote in a future compendium about the Florida music scene in the '00s. Great bands needs lots of mediocre bands to stand out in the crowd and Modernage is in just in front of the cheap seats yelling and screaming for attention. Nice try. Next. Sirhan Sirhan is a [...]
This is the first time we've ever heard of an indie band from Miami, and they're dope! Modernage is a 5-piece that's rolls some heavy synths but also brings us a good amount of rock. Their new Sirhan Sirhan EP boasts a good range of their talents and I especially am diggin' the pop-ness on 'Somewhere' which is my favorite track. Each song on this EP holds its own. Often times we hear EPs that have 1 or 2 good songs and the other songs "need" the good song to make a decent EP. [...]

Modernage, the Miami based rock quintet have released their third EP album in September 2008 entitled Sirhan Sirhan. Its five songs delve into the ideas of sense of self, personality and love. With evident musical influences such as Joy Division and Gang of Four, the band is still carving out a niche for itself. The result is an experimental style that is never uniform throughout, and changes from track to track. For the most part their experimentation has yielded good results and what exudes is a strong compilation. The album begins with dynamic drum lines in 'The Victim' [...]
