Sorry i've been away for a while. Did you miss me? Anyhow... theres a big night on tonight at Sex with Robots , at the roadhouse, Central Manchester. Consisting of Scottynaispas and founders / fellow residents $$$'s and Oscar Wildstyle from Modernaire . Its $$$'s birthday, and for fun and festivities he has decided to hire some burlesque dancers, an awesome light technician and various other fun things, including human scrabble. Get yourselves down there, its free in and will be rocking 11pm - 3am. Get there at 11 or so to avoid disappointment, its been [...]
Here is a pretty sweet little ditty by British band Modernaire . It's A remix of MGMT's awesome Birds, Moons and Monsters. Not fast, not electro, but a nice track for a little change of pace in your sets' and lives'. Hope everyone appreciates the track! It's on my elecronic bed time list. Along with the recently mentioned Autoerotique (I love that this name sounds like an adjective for describing the song) remix of Lykke Li , and Nasty Nav's remix of Crystal Castles' Vanished . A couple of less recent tracks that make the list: DJ [...]

Those happy people over at evol are hosting Metronomy tonight at Korova bar. There's so many top bands hitting Liverpool in the next week for MTV Music week and although this isn't part of the line-up it's still a decent warm-up for what's gonna be a feast of amazing music. I'm rocking up tonight, I did a favour for a sailor so got free tickets. Sometimes it pays to know your way around an ADSL router J but to be [...]
In my mind, remixing is all about respect. Taking something that's already there and making it stronger, stamping a different identity onto a song whilst retaining something of the original. The electronic whizz behind Modernaire, Oscar Wildstyle, takes the glorious vocal of the original - arguably Metronomy's best track since You Could Easily Have Me - and imprints his own style on it. Playfulness is the key to all his work to date I feel, allied to a sense of glamour and chic that never gets anywhere near the cheesiness that often undermines glossy electro sounds. Easily the [...]

Behold the growing Authentic Disco/New Bloghouse/Post-Electro trend. I found some tunes that take a more melodic, organic route to dance music. The beat is slower, it is infused with awesome 70's keyboard sounds, and the vocals will stick in your head for days. Walter Meego-Forever(Escort Remix) [...]

okay okay between moving boxes, packing up nearly everything in my room (slowly) and praying it doesn't rain this weekend, i have been listening to some music. i got sent the Modernaire remix of Metronomy 's single 'Heartbreaker' and it sounds pretty bloody ace. the single is out monday and the band are playing Offset Festival this weekend. Metronomy - Heartbreaker (Modernaire Remix) i'm all too excited to camp in the forest with (imaginary) bears and whatnot for Offset [...]

The Modernaire , a Manchester based trinity comprising of Cruella De Mill, Oscar Wildstyle and Chesty La Rue (what? They made those up!?), make music that is multi-purpose. Menacing synths and surging beats contrasted by wispy vocals and anodyne harmonies mean their sound would suit the party but wouldn't feel out of place being played as a bedtime lullaby. Electro-be-bop anyone? Having played with of The Whip , Ratatat and The Ting Tings (whom requested their support), the band have now released their second EP, ' Velvet Never Dries ' on independent label Jackdaw [...]

Well...not really but give Flairs some credit for making this awesome track. If you haven't seen the Dave Chapelle skit about Prince, you should because no matter what Flairs says about prince, that sexy muthafucka can play ball. Ok, I'm not gonna say much more about Prince because we all know him and his purple ass-less chaps. I am gonna talk about Flairs though, because for a delusional frenchie, he does make some great music. I wish it was 2004 right now because I would have really been into this right now. Making that kinda Dancey music with [...]
Ruth (Chestie La Rue - what's not to love about a name like that) from Modernaire has replied to my rambling nonsense about copyright and freebies, although she did so in a comment, so I thought I'd move it up here for your perusal: Hello all. It's Ruth here from Modernaire and The Moulettes. Sorry for [...]
With a Bunsen burner and a handful of magnesium you can make your very own Ryu fireball. It's just one of the many awesome things science has given us. Another is romance. In this brand new song, the ever excellent Modernaire distill good loving down to it's base elements and engineer three minutes of perfect electro pop. Catch them on tour with the Ting Tings and marvel at their use of the word 'thermochromatically'.
Straight from the inbox comes a bangin' remix done by The Winkle of a track from the Manchester/Brighton-based electropoppers Modernaire . Modernaire are currently on a UK tour with another great band called The Tiing Tings , which are worth diving into. Check the remix below. MP3: Modernaire - "Scour All This Land (The Winkle Remix)" [...]
I appear to be slow with pretty much all news these days. If Tim from the Daily Growl beats me to any more new music I am going to have to go down South and stamp on his modem. I happened across Modernaire quite by accident whilst shuffling about MySpace in a dirty old mac, [...]

Sometimes great new music can just hit you from out of nowhere. Yesterday afternoon, a message popped into my inbox from John Brainlove, head honcho of the excellent Brainlove Records with info on the label's new release – a split 7 inch featuring Friends of the Bride and Modernaire. Friends of the Bride I was familiar with, and have always enjoyed their big-band swing meets 60s beat sound with a definite modern twist. If you're not acquainted with Bobby Grindrod and co, maybe think a [...]
