Whether a result of pandering to the contemporary infatuation with the enigma or of purely not possessing any further relevant information besides the fact that they're comprised of just two and function out of a nondescript niche of London, the realities of Modern Air are concurrently, well, up in the air. A four-track EP of sorts inventively denominated 'Debut' can be located on the still-stark Soundcloud page and above and beyond the Fever Ray-infused celestial soar of Ascent or below the forbiddingly penetrative industrial throb of its Intro, its most striking slab is dubbed Industry. Clicking [...]

I have to admit that the title of this piece represents an assumption on my part, but I would guess it's probably accurate. Since the Modernaires played an important role in the band's success during Glenn Miller's biggest years, you'd have to draw that conclusion, even if he might have secretly coveted Tommy Dorsey's Pied Pipers. Three buddies in Buffalo started the Modernaires in 1935, although they didn't call themselves that when they first began performing with bands. Hal Dickinson, Chuck Goldstein, and Bill Conway performed as the Don Juan Three at times, and a little later [...]

This podcast is called the Greencast because we have the most hobbled government in recent memory - Cameron has kinda, sorta, maybe won, in the sense that he is actually the PM. On the other hand Clegg, having been butchered at the polls, after a promising campaign, is now in a position of more influence than he was ever likely to gain from the election alone. And yet Labour, despite being deposed, seem to have come out of it all better than anyone. They may be out of power, but they are free from the millstone [...]

Now we're cooking with gas! My hearing is back, I'm a year older, I'm in Canada, my internet connection blows, what better time to get back on the wagon and get these rock-wheels rollin'? This roundup has been in the pipeline for ages now and is a bit outdated by even my standards but it's still good and/or interesting music so get to listening! ♫ The Drums - Down By The Water (The Soundmen Remix) / This has been my total jam as of late. So [...]
I can't believe it's August already. I can't believe TBE is almost 6 months old. I can't believe this is the 8th roundup of remixes. I can't believe you are still reading this. OK, now I really can't believe it. I cant. Seriously, nothing you say can make me believe you are still reading this. It's called belief dude, it's personal, I don't have to explain or justify it. I mean, yeah, I guess if I saw you reading it I would 'believe' but that's not even the point. The point is that there are so many fresh [...]
Wow! What a response we had to that last post about The Twelves remixes. You turned up in your droves for that one. Thanks! Hope you enjoyed it. Now it's back to the traditional section, showcasing a handful of bands that get our Recommender tick of approval. MODERNAIRE This 4-piece have been busily touring, remixing and, when they get the chance, actually releasing their own records, such as the wry and infectious ' Faites Les Jeux ', (listed below). It's a wonderful synth driven [...]

We just recieved another amazing remix from our UK based buddies Modernaire ! This time around it's for Who Made Who track " Keep Me In My Plane "!

apparently murder is out of fashion so i got put away for a crime of passion Modernaire - Faites Vos Jeux Quick! What does this artwork make you think about Modernaire? "Modernaire?" That's what it says? They are a post-electro noise-core punk duo who used to be really into Crystal castles. They have never met in person and create music via snail mail/internet like Postal Service or Bike For Three ! The chick is dumb. (Doesn't know [...]

via young1and1hopeless Been a little bit since I've been able to sit down and write here. Between how beautiful it is outside and how horrible it is working during the Summer, I've found some solace drifting between the two listening to the following songs. It would help if my internet was reliable, too. BTW- I updated the concert listings- lots of good stuff hapn'n this month. Been a while since Rex The Dog has graced my stereo, this time taking on the instant-classic hit by Fever [...]
Skru' tiden 2 uger tilbage. Just her, udgav WhoMadeWho remix-pakken til den 3. single fra deres album, The Plot .

Ryan (StopMe): I've spent every minute I could spare this weekend either watching Wimbledon, watching Glastonbury or indulging in the odd glass of ice-cold Pimms. From my armchair, the highlights of the festival seemed to be every second of Florence & The Machine's set , Springsteen's surprise appearance with The Gaslight Anthem , Lady Gaga's smashed-mirror-dress-Glam-Pop- extravaganza and Dizzee Rascal sending the crowd literally 'Bonkers' . There probably aren't many bands that would think of writing a delightful Pop-Folk song touching on the subject of cum (Except maybe The Hidden [...]
The 3rd single from The Plot out on Gomma. Directed by Good Boy Creative. "Keep Me In My Plane" was released last week with remixes by DJ Koze & Kasper Björke. Here's a remix... **Summary** Go to website for downloads, videos & more.

Modernaire I've been a huge fan Modernaire since mid 2007, when I first heard them play in a dingy pub in Manchester with Dolby Anol and this awful awful act called Bitterly Ironic (of all things). They stood out a mile, with their eerie girl vocals in perfect harmony and their dirty dark, swashbuckling pop electronica. I've said before that the band on first glance might seem a little pretentious; but their razor sharp wit and a tidy vocabulary belie a sense of humor that's rarely seen in the current musical climate. [...]

Video Villain gets the honor of being our first interview of 2009! Congrats girls and guy! :) SMILE: So, who is Video Villain and how long have you guys been performing together? There isn't much info on you out there, so give us the beef. Video Villain: We've known each other for a few years, we used to play gigs together when we were in different bands and sometimes meet up for a drink. It was actually when we met up for a drink more recently that we [...]

Part 4: 37-50. The next installment of late year list-o-rama brings us up to date with the first half of the Toad Festive Fifty. Slightly more, in fact, because I'm gearing up for a top ten, so I've cheated slightly on numbers here are there. For those of you who want to make your own lists, see this post for the rules, and get stuck in. The more who take part the better. One of the things that struck me with this part of the list is the inclusion [...]
