This post is a "QuickPick". QuickPicks are my attempt at getting all of the music that's sent to me that I like (or just music I like but have no words for because it's so awesome), out into the dubya dots. Any time I get sent music that I like I "star" it in Gmail and then go back and listen to it a day later. If it's still as good as it was a day before then it goes up on the site, but sometimes I get backlogged and can't get through writing [...]
CEO's new video for White Magic highlight "Illuminata" has Eric Berglund getting his game on in a slo mo tennis match with himself. The video is directed by Marcus Soderlund, who handled CEO's previous videos. ceo - Illuminata
A sports-inspired and beautifully-colored new video from The Tough Alliance's Eric Berglund aka CEO, "Illuminata" was one of the better songs in a sea of great songs on the CEO debut from this year, White Magic. Directed by Marcus Soderlund, the clip has tennis (and nice branding on the headband for Nike), driving, a handful [...]
ok, so news in today is that the big head man (as in the guys that runs the joint, not the guy with the massif head.) of Modular is going to curate the Vivid Live fest up in Sydney next year. So, Vivid Live is part of the Vivid Sydney Festival and runs between Friday 27 [...]

It's easy, or rather lazy, to pigeonhole any artist after hearing a single track. Obviously it's not a habit any of us want to admit to, but it can happen. Canyons are a perfect example of why this tactic can get you into trouble. Listen to their first single on DFA Records last year, "Fire Eyes," and you'll find yourself immediately loving or swiftly dismissing their strangely minimalist disco sound. The release was cast aside rather quickly, seeming to influence Canyons reinvention for their debut album on Modular , due out Q1 2011. Their first [...]
*MP3: Cut Copy - "Take Me Over" Cut Copy's new album, Zonoscope, will be out on...

what babes YAY for Bag Raiders ! They've finally released their self-titled debut album and to celebrate they've kicked it back with some proper CHOONS selected for those mourning the arrival of Autumn and for those awaiting the summer time fun; the Pina Colada Podcasta is complete with Summer Breezes, Shy Guys, Brazilian Affairs and chill out drunkytown vibes in the sun. Pretty damn sexy. Tracklist and commentary by Chris and Jack below for each track below, then go cop the mixtape [...]
Tame Impala - Lucidity from Modular People on Vimeo . [MP3] Tame Impala - "Lucidity" We have been meaning to post this for some time now as "Lucidity" is easily one of our favor tracks off Tame Impala's debut record, Innerspeaker; this video comes to us courtesy of our friends at Modular People and is not for the faint of stomach. Choosing to affix a camera to a weather balloon then launching [...]

The Aussies tackle their music with such jubilance that their overly-familiar aesthetic and obvious influences seem beside the point. Retro is a good [...]

Taken from the B-side to the 73 single "Come With Me", "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright" is almost an instrumental, but not quite. It follows the same African tribal beat for most of the song, switching it up to give us some kinda Hip-Hop yelling half-way through and Eric (presumably) himself harmonising off and on. It's a cover of a song by ex-Swedish band Sagor & Swing, and that's about it really, give it a listen and check out "Come With Me" , the standout track from his amazing debut album "White Magic" (out now via [...]

Australian psychedelic indie rockers Tame Impala are the talk of the town (or rather, the 'blogosphere') and with good reason. The Perth natives bring to the table a refreshing sound that hearkens back to a generation in which tunes were most inspired and driven by the latest magic mushrooms or LSD an artist had consumed. Retro guitar effects and distortion? Check. Crazy tempo/time changes sure to blow the mind of the young stoner listening intently? Check. It would seem that the band went about their songwriting for their hit self-titled EP bearing these thoughts in mind as [...]

You only really need one person to make music, as long as they have hands, or even a nose and a mouth it'll work, but thankfully Eric Berglund has all of his limbs. This is a good thing because not only is he able to do more than one thing at a time, but the more limbs a person has the better the music sounds, it's just a scientific fact. As half of The Tough Alliance , he's now 100% of CEO, a collaboration between Modular Records and Yours Sincerely. With a 73 already out and "Come With [...]
No one knows "pop" better in the new millennium than CEO, who is basically Eric Berglund from one of our favorite slow-oozing electronic acts The Tough Alliance. Berglund burst back onto the scene just a few short weeks ago under...
Mired in a dreary dystopia, our guy fights the law, hostile crowds, and a dog to get what solitude he can in this Megaforce directed clip. -

"Tame Impala are a rainbow sandstorm of stoned riffage, mindbending melody and blissed out adventurism from the most isolated city in the world who echo the lighter side of Cream, Blue Cheer and Kyuss. The band are set to release their debut album 'InnerSpeaker' this coming May". Tame Impala produce an intelligent musical concept, a rare construction of sound only allocated to warmer climates with humid basements and broken down air conditioners. These Psychedelic groovers from the West coast of Australia have been threatening to release something quite remarkable, the debut will not [...]

Just seen this on modular people and thought i had to share. One half of The Presets doing a follow up mix to his prog-out mix a couple of weeks ago. This time around Mr Moyes teams up with the notorious Kookabruthaz to give us thirteen chunks of exclusive and banging club tunes, including an unreleased Tiga remix from last year and a sneaky preview of a Via Tania remix. Tracklist Tiga - "What You Need (Kim Remix)" Dinamics - "Music More Than A Passion A Drug (Kim [...]

Modular are bringing out the big guns with the release of a US only EP (backed with remixes from Renaissance Man and Nightmoves , to be released March 2nd) from Manchester indie disco trio Delphic who were recently released their debut album "Acolyte" and were just confirmed for an appearance at Coachella in April. To promote the single and the festival date, they're giving away the Delphic remix of French electropopsters in Phoenix + the recent Modcast that the lads did. Phoenix - Fences [...]

We have just received a new remix made by Delphic for Fences , one of the best tracks from the Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix album. The Manchester trio, who are set to hit the stage of this year's Coachella festival, have just launched their first album, named Acolyte . Now, Modular Records are re-releasing their two first singles Counterpoint , This Momentary — released back in August through Kitsuné — and Sanctuary. But this time remixes from Nightmoves , Renaissance Man [...]

U.S. Delphic fans will be sad no more, as the band are releasing an exclusive U.S. only single on Modular this March. Think of it as the Delphic primary as it's a focus on "This Momentary" and "Counterpoint." To celebrate the release the boys did a Modcast as well as this stellar remix of Phoenix's "Fences." Phoenix - Fences (Delphic Remix) Delphic - Modcast Single tracklisting 123 Vinyl A1 Counterpoint (Original) A2 Counterpoint (Renaissance Man [...]
