The Epic Oldskool Journey mix series is my attempt to archive a period of music that I find particularly innovative, but also one that holds much sentimental value. The first two Journeys focused more on specific time periods - Part 1 being dominated by acid house, bleep and rave; Part 2 much more focused on UK breakbeat aka 'ardcore. I also tried to limit both of those to more esoteric songs from my collection, although some floorfillers were included. Part 3, quite possibly the last of these, I dub the "anthem" episode, as it definintely has its share [...]
C2C s'est amusé à remixer Mojo de -M-. Rien de bien excitant mais encore une fois ça fonctionne. Cet article C2C remixe Mojo de -M- est apparu en premier sur Splash My Sound .
British nu -folk trio The Staves ( Emily, Jessica, and Camilla Staveley -Taylor) take on the Fleetwood Mac Rumours -era standard "Songbird" and turn what was already a classic into something fresh and different. It's no secret that the late, great Eva Cassidy had pretty much put her own indelible (and exceptionally fine) stamp on the song years ago, but this new version, from the latest MOJO [...]

Mojo's revisiting of classic Fleetwood Mac album Rumours has gathered up a lot of screen inches over the internet and music blogs. We have already given you the Liars, Yeasayer and the Staves on our original post , but over the past week or so, the Besnard Lakes version of You Make Loving Fun has grown to become perhaps our favourite on the cover disk. Have a listen below. Buy Mojo at any decent newsagents. Subscribe to Mojo here . Follow @madmackerel
Stereogum The metal rag Decibel was the first prominent publication to drop a year-end best-albums list, but MOJO , that boomer-friendliest of all the major UK rock magazines, isn't far behind. Given the magazine's classic-rock proclivities, it's probably not a shock that they named Jack White's pretty-great Blunderbuss as their #1 pick for 2012; it's got a combination of relevance, popularity, and 12-bar conservatism that we don't often hear. (That combination also goes a long [...]

Oggi parliamo di One Day (Reckoning Song) , canzone che è salita fino al secondo posto della classifica singoli Fimi, dopo l'ingresso della scorsa settimana in decima posizione. Il pezzo è cantato da Asaf Avidan feat. The Mojos.

Woah. Say hello to one of my new favorite songs of 2012. In combining Israeli singer/songwriter Asaf Avidan 's raw, heartfelt vocals and German producer Wankelmut 's minimal, breakbeat production, the two join forces to create a one-of-a-kind masterpiece in the form of "One Day / Reckoning Song" . And the nostalgia-filled video only adds to its originality. This song's already blowing up the radio in the Netherlands, so it shouldn't take too long until get reaches the rest of the world. In the meantime, check [...]

Stream: Jonathan Richman - "My Music (For MOJO Magazine)" This is so good. MOJO magazine shared this fantastic poem and here's the back story: "The preposterously youthful 60-year-old is currently touring the UK, and while MOJO's requests for an interview met with the usual polite refusal, Richman offered to interview himself in the form of a poem." It starts out like this: So Jonathan, does it feel at all strange to be sixty years old, Singing in clubs now for [...]

Music is a very curious creature. Music is governed by a unique feel that varies from artist to artist; floating through our speakers and into an intricate web of synapses, accruing slight differences and eventually snowballing into an excess of serotonin and dopamine, to form pleasure, our how I like to relate it, emotion. Composed in 1938 by Arturo Toscanini, Adagio for Strings is a classic and a must listen for every human being. Besides being an essential piece of classical music, Adagio for Strings was translated into a deep trance anthem courtesy of DJ Tiesto himself. Both [...]
Destroyer – “Leave Me Alone (New Order cover) Mojo Magazine is releasing a special album with this month’s issue, a covers compilation of New Order’s classic Power, Corruption and Lies which features contributions from The Golden Filter, Walls, Fujiya and Miyagi, Biosphere and more (quite the diverse bunch!). But my favorite of this collection—which also includes covers of the B-sides accompanying the album—is Destroyer’s tight and propulsive take on “Leave Me Alone”. It’s an appropriate move for Dan Bejar and co., considering the cornucopia [...]
