This new track from California-based DJ Freddie Joachim comes to us just in time for Valentine's Day. It's hard to listen to "Morena" without thinking of how perfect it would be to have it on hand while the sandalwood incense is being lit. Or whatever you have planned for the night. Supple vocals are engrained into [...]
This new track from California-based DJ Freddie Joachim comes to us just in time for Valentine's Day. It's hard to listen to "Morena" without thinking of how perfect it would be to have it on hand while the sandalwood incense is being lit. Or whatever you have planned for the night. Supple vocals are engrained into a polished Spanish guitar rhythm, all of which play gently against a smooth snare beat. There are hints of Gotan Project with maybe even Thievery Corporation intermixed. [...]

Yet another track from Moloko front woman's Roisin Murphy has leaked. This one is produced by none other that David Morales. It sounds like it could be a big Mykonos dance classic with a little rev up. Honestly, we are tired of listening to snippets here and there of Roisin's upcoming project and are about ready for an album. Amen? Click below to listen. Joe & Will Ask and Kiwi blow the dust off an old Moloko hit and give it new life through some warm bass and subtle piano work. The production is so well done, you won't notice the eight minutes it took to listen to it. Moloko - The Time Is Now (Joe & Will Ask vs Kiwi Remix)

Tweet House DJs are a dime a dozen. If you're a club-hopper, you probably hear new artists all the time, peppered in with those bangers that just seem to stick around for a little bit too long. If you love electronic music and listen to it mostly from your computer, you probably have a better grasp of the sheer number of dudes with a couple of gadgets and their own idea of what sounds cool. That is why it's refreshing to catch wind of [...]

Just came back from heavy rain Fusion Festival, this tune stuck in my mind: Moloko - The Time Is Now (Jow and Will Ask Vs Kiwi Remix)

I think I'm going to go to tesco and grab a bigass bottle of nutella and stuff my face with that shit, stare out of my window, watch Leeds city getting darker, the streets wet from the rain. The best thing about living in a tall apartment is that you get to see the whole skyline, watch the sunset, daydream about better days. Today is one of those better days. After the constant feeling of fear, dread and anxiety, today at least, today is okay. Joe & Will Ask ? have this tunage for free D/L: [...]

Click image to download track Sounds like: Skream, Moloko, Can 7, Mr. Scruff, Quantic, Skipless "Jazztronik - Samurai" What's so good? I've always said that the sound of summer is house, but a part of me is changing my mind. I'm realizing that jazz music might be the true summer sound. Just check out this Skream track I posted a little while back, for instance. I'm telling you all this because it looks like I've [...]

Click image to download track Sounds like: Mr. Scruff, Quantic, Skream "Moloko - Sing It Back (Can 7 1930's Remix)" What's so good? You should probably ignore the "Sounds like" part of today's post. Sure, this sounds more like Mr. Scruff, Quantic (the whole Ninja Tune crew, really) than it does anything else contemporary, but what it really sounds like is early 20th century swing, an area where my knowledge of artists is decidedly hazy. With [...]

I was surfing the interwebs the other day when I came across an article about how Lady Gaga plunders Roisin Murphy 's (of the tragically defunct Moloko ) style, which included some blow by blow photos . While I've really got nothing against Gaga, her music works great for spinning class, or the fact that besides Roisin she nicks hefty doses of Leigh Bowery , what really strike me however was the overall stupidity of her fan base. Here were some choice fillets of sage wisdom from her followers regarding Roisin (yes I left the spelling intact): [...]

Yesterday I got these great submissions and will probably be listening to all 5 on loop for the rest of the day. Also, if you weren't in OKC last night with us, you missed one hell of a ROBOTIC . There were zombies, lifeguards, girls in bikinis, sharks, beach balls, high fives, and people crowd surfing in a blow up boat. I can't wait to see the video! Eleven years since one of Moloko's best-loved singles was released, we get our hands on a collaborative remix of the tune, done by teaming up Joe and Will Ask and Kiwi. "The Time Is Now" was already a hugely successful electro pop track from the early part of this century, what with Roisin Murphy and [...]

Joe And Will Ask and Kiwi teamed up to rework the a Miloko classic, promoting their monthly Vikings party on May 26th. Summer vibes. MP3: Moloko - The Time Is Now (Joe and Will Ask vs Kiwi Remix)

On June 17, Germany's most iconic dance label Peppermint Jam releases 'The Jam Files,' a very special anniversary compilation celebrating 18 years of seminal house anthems. And a glance at the tracklisting of this triple CD aural feast reveals no less than the soundtrack to our lives: there's Ruffneck's groove-laden, hand-clap-driven 'Everybody Be Somebody'; Byron Stingily's falsetto worldwide anthem 'Get Up'; Boris Dlugosch's masterful rework of Moloko's 'Sing It Back'; and – of course – Mousse T.'s international breakthrough, the Ivor Novello award-winning 'Horny' (albeit in two radically new versions by Radioslave & Daniel Solar & Andi De [...]

Last Autumn the below track, by the dutch duo Mason , circled around online and had our little blog tails wagging. The tune is everything we want in a club floor-filler, with it's four-beat pounding away behind a classy, well-produced whirlwind of brooding synths. It's with guest vocalist, Roisin Murphy , from the band Moloko, that the track is lifted from it's sexual glow into a more threatening attack. Like all the best dance tunes out there you are transported somewhere deeper within your mind. This is dance music for those moments on the club floor [...]

Oh Moloko , we do miss thee. It's all well and good when Roisin Murphy actually gets round to releasing solo material but since she's too busy looking after her sprog at the moment to get properly involved in music we have found ourselves rifling through her former band's material to keep us satisfied. And that's not exactly difficult, when Moloko are in possession of such unrelenting tuneage. Two personal favourites; firstly the stunning FKEK (AKA Francois K and Eric Kupper ) remix of "Forever More". Whilst the original is dark, [...]
