is it sex or is it love, hoping you don't call my bluff ♫ Mona - Lean Into The Fall (Piano Version) Listen to "Lean Into The Fall" "Shooting The Moon" or "Listen To Your Love" & you know there is heart. And rock. And roll. Underrated magic. [Quickies are mini-reviews that can fit into a 140 character tweet. They are of albums that people already know of but perhaps are curious about our take on it. What did you think of the disc?] [...]

Mona Mona Mercury Records [2012] Fire Note Says: Mona's debut is full of anthem radio friendly numbers that just might grab your ear. Album Review: Dayton, OH + Nashville, TN = Part of BBC's Sound of 2011 and NME's Best New Bands of 2010. What? Well that is exactly the back story with Mona. Back in 2005 this group won the Dayton Band Playoffs and ever since [...]

Warner Theater in the heart of downtown DC - read: ghastly dead after normal working hours and on the weekends - usually puts on shows of a genteel nature. Christmas productions of the Nutcracker come to mind, for example; it started out as a vaudeville and silent film house. But every once in a while, their staff will open its doors to put on rock shows of a higher calibre: think David Byrne and Morrissey , two acts I'd seen there previously. Last Wednesday night, it played host to one half of the most contentious partnerships [...]
You know those concerts that you regret not going to the minute you make up your mind not to attend? In 1994 my friend (and Sony college rep) Andy called and said, "I'm going to Cleveland to see this band called Oasis at the Grog Shop. They are blowing up in the UK the way Pearl Jam is blowing up in the US. Want to go?" Hearing this, I thought Oasis MUST be a grunge band because that was all the rage but when I heard the Gallagher brothers, the music sounded nothing like the music [...]

The following review came from special guest writer Olga, who likes independent coffee shops and plaid shirted hipsters with beards. Apply within. They came from down south and thankfully brought the rock 'n' roll heat to our chilly city this past weekend at The Mod Club. Toronto hosted Mona on the cusp of the band's release of their first full length, self-titled album via Zion Noiz Recording/Island Records. Mona also had two prestigious live TV gigs – one with Leno; the other with Coco! – lined up after their Toronto show. Need I also mention [...]

If there's anything my experience as a music blogger has taught me, it is that people can make fantastic music no matter what their background or locale, or whether they are under the strict umbrella of management or tied to a label of any sorts. This, of course, has been understood and recognised for years before I landed amongst the musings of online publication, however, it is important to emphasise that a multitude of uninhibited and sincere sounds can be found if one chooses to look for them. So today I have decided to bring to you the most secret [...]
Recently the KINGS OF LEON and the STONE TEMPLE PILOTS had a love child, named it the MONA and sent it off to the Jay Leno HQs for its network debut with a performance of LEAN INTO THE FALL .

By Michel Dussack It seems that everywhere these days, people constantly have to remind us that rock is not dead in 2012 - that it is alive and well thank you very much, and no place was this truer on February 21st than at New York City's Mercury Lounge. Rarely do I walk away from a concert impressed by all the openers; however this night was an exception. First up were Philly's Cold Fronts who played a thirty minute set ...
Mona , who were nothing short of amazing last Saturday night here in Washington , have released a piano version of 'Lean Into the Fall', the song we were told was going to be their first single off their debut album. It's literally just singer Nick Brown's voice over piano backing. A dangerous move for a lesser band, but I think this proves how strong Brown's voice and the actual song are, if the guitars and drums are stripped away and there's still a compelling performance. Gee, this treatment sounds and smells like [...]
Filed under: News , Exclusive , New Music , New Releases IDJ Nashville's latest addition to the Church of Rock 'N' Roll is Mona , a visually throwback group of badass dudes with a Southern flair and a thirst for truthful tunes. Now you can get an exclusive listen to the band's latest single 'The Tally.' Beginning with a high-pitched lament from lead singer Nick Brown, 'The Tally' rips into a cathedral-sized [...]

Nashville's Mona should have a lot more momentum going for them. The four piece band were nominated as part of BBC's Sound of 2011 poll, won MTV's Best new band and also are signed to Mercury Records. They released their self titled debut Mona last year without much internet fanfare but as I am looking them up right now, they have won a MTV best new band award AND they also have a VEVO youtube page with some high quality videos. So maybe they are more popular than I [...]

Picture it: the 4th of August, 2010, Washington, DC. I've just taken over the reins as Editor of TGTF when I get an email from a PR company we've worked with for a while that read like this: Hope you are well and enjoying the summer. We are looking after a new band who hail from Nashville. They go by the name of 'Mona' and we are honestly so excited about them! But don't take my word for it, I have copied a link below where you can download their video for the new song [...]

We know you lost sleep over the course of last month, waiting patiently, racking your brain to see what we could possibly list as our favorite albums of 2011. We lost sleep too, compulsively checking our lists twice and perhaps after a fist fight or two, we settled on 25 firm choices. After all, who listens to as much music as us? Who actually has time to listen to put together a valid top 25 list with no filler? We're fairly certain that most other sites don't include at least a handful of the albums listed on none other [...]
Wer [...] [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
