Sometimes they're an indie-pop band, as on "I Was a Captain in the Army," but sometimes they play fake metal songs. Sometimes they get a bit ahead of themselves, literally -- the drums on "Captain" go a little too fast, making the band race to catch up. 'Tis the season for our last hurrah of 2006 with bands we saw more times this year than what is legally permitted. Even more so, these bands have been good friends this past year and that, along with egg nog and mistletoes, are what this time of year is all about. Getting any one of these bands on a night would have been a gift, but the fact they've all been gathered together for a single evening is an absolute coup.
