Barretso is going to have a great year! The Chilean has had one of the quickest trips to fame by already producing hits that will tremble much of the 'Best of' lists for 2010... and it's only mid-February. That's scary. He hit the radar October ish '09 with a bunch of remixes, some which you may or may not remember ( find below ). Either way, the remixing talent has always been there. That's unquestionable. What is questionable is how long he can keep releasing amazing hits. So far the bi-weekly average is pretty impressive. The [...]

We have been talking with our new friends TRASHBAGS from Australia for the past month or so. They gave us the inside track about this new Electro heat from South America! South America has brought us great Dance Music Acts like The Twelves , N.A.S.A. , Database , Mixhell , and new we can add Barretso to the list! Chilean artist Barretso has signed to Tuff em Up Records for his new E.P. release Bright City Lights. He has also come out with a few bootlegs and white labels [...]

The internets have been going crazy for Barretso ever since he dropped his Midnight Walk track on any music blog which had any sense to post it. He's about to drop his debut EP on the Tuff Em Up label and we've got the title track from it to share with you. 'Bright City Lights' is a dreamy track, where electro meets dreamwave and the two get along rather well. It's comparable to the work of Russ Chimes (think Mulsanne) but without being a rip-off and it contains some great 80's styled [...]

Barretso is based in Chile - and that's actually everything we know about him. Of course next to that what we can acquire for ourselves - his skills in remixing! And in fact that's already everything we really need to know. Monomen , Astro and Justice are the acts that he was heart hard enough to remix. Although this must be version no. 2.614.981 of "We Are Your Friends" and nobody here at TFL HQ wants to listen this track not even for a second anymore, we [...]
Actually there won't be much checking (and even less writing) tonight, as I'm far too tired to do anything, except having a beer and watching yet another episode of Midsomer Murders . But I really should do the mail checking more often on Friday evenings, because the 50 (or more) mails I worked my way through last night had only been replaced by 5 this morning. I know this is (essentially) explained by the promotion agents being off for the weekend, but still it makes me feel that I really accomplished something! But [...]

Monomen is a Norwegian new wave/electronica band from the small suburban area Sørumsand, outside of Oslo. Formed by former classmates Kristian Rangnes, Kim Skråmo, Tobias Kristiansen and Vidar Torget, the young quartet shows its affection for 80's post-punk and new wave through a bunch of infectious tracks that bring to mind The Chameleons , Joy Division , Magazine , New Order , Depeche Mode and Devo . After releasing an EP on Oslo label Trust Me Records in 2006, Monomen returned with their self-titled debut album a year later. Filled [...]

I love good new wave/dancerock music and Monomen play just that. Check out the infectious track "Drum of Glass" which takes all of the good stuff from the British new wave era of the 1980's and makes one killer track. The Norwegian quartet is just a rush of energy from the driving beat to the sweeping vocals this track remains one of the freshest things I have heard from Norway in...ever??? They released their album Monomen LP back in 2007 but it's not like it has seen any light of day here in the states. They have made a few [...]

Our favorite Norwegians Monomen just released a new track on their MySpace page here . The track is called Polaroid . Hopefully this is a sign of a new album in the works? The guys have been quiet for quite some time. If you are not familiar with the band make sure you listen to Drum Of Glass as well. We can't express enough love and lust for this track. Pure goodness.

Monomen - Drum Of Glass "That's when I hit my drum of glass" Monomen is a Norwegian synth pop group with a great, aggressive 80's dance sound. They remind me a little of 2006's White Rose Movement, which produced one of my favorite albums of that year. The best thing about Drum Of Glass is definitely the propulsive synth beat. From the moment I heard it I knew I was sold. The [...]

The CMJ music marathon starts on October 16, and if you're interested in new, interesting music from my country, you have several chances to see something great from Norway on this festival. Here is a playlist of music by the Norwegian bands/artists that are playing on this years CMJ: IDA MARIA ( http://www.myspace.com/idamari a ) Ida Maria - Oh my God! Ida Maria - Louie [...]

Drum Of Glass - Monomen Ah, the 80's. A terrible decade in so many ways, and even musically a little lacking, but you simply cannot deny the power of a good synth-rhythm, a lesson that the Norwegian band Monomen appears to have learned well. A little New Order here, some Eurythmics there - you get the idea. Or better yet, imagine Interpol if they weren't quite so depressed and if you were playing a 33 at 45 speed. There's nothing complicated going on here, but really that's what makes it [...]

The Sonics are rightfully considered to be one of the earliest bands on the family tree of punk due to their wild and unconventional style with bloodcurdling screams, neanderthal drumming and heavily distorted guitar. The lyrics of The Sonics' original material dealt with early '60s teenage culture; cars, guitars, surfing, and girls alongside darker subject matter such as drinking strychnine for kicks, witches, psychopaths, and Satan. They combined classic Northwest-area garage band raunch (see the first Nuggets compilation to hear other bands in this style such as Sam The [...]

Gonna load you up over the next couple of days. Feel free to get loaded. Erm... A little snot for Christmas today. Call it punk rock, call it trash, call it rock'n'roll. I dunno. Nothing beats trash wunderkind Billy Childish in the guise of the Buff Medways. The Replacements were the greatest band of the 80's, bar none. Really, I can't think of a rational argument that would convince me
07.09 - Oslo, John Dee (m/Stereo Total) 08.09 - Bergen, Garage (Phonofestivalen) 09.09 - Stavanger, Folken (Numusic
