Now here is a pleasant Friday surprise, as two personal favorites in TV Girl and Monster Rally team up for a tropical fusion of indie pop magic. Both sides of this collaboration are prominently represented, as Monster Rally's island influence loops along as TV Girl lather up the track with infectious lyricism. Our fingers are crossed this isn't the only time these two will join forces, but "Average Guy" cheers us up more than enough after what has been an incredible depressing week. [ via ]

Lamar+Nik caught my eye last year with their excellent video for Lushlife's " Magnolia " which transformed the ever-popular lyric video, and for this new clip the directing duo is taking on skateboarding videos, having the skaters ride through a barrage of water balloons in slow-motion. It's a very simple concept, but it makes for a fun video.

Robot Soup alum Monster Rally is back with another ill project with his go-to collaborator RUMTUM . Together, they have crafted the Coasting EP, which flirts with Middle Eastern, Caribbean, and soul influences. It's also a fully instrumental, sample-heavy affair, which means the hip-hop aficionados out there looking for more head-nodding rhythms will be satisfied here.
