The opening track on Sweater Weather Forever , the debut four-song EP from Atlanta psych-pop outfit, Mood Rings , unfurls like an early '60s, David Lynch-inspired night at the prom. It's gauzy and surreal, but there is an wide-eyed romanticism that lends the song—aptly-titled "Year of Dreams"—a feeling of incorruptible innocence. Mood Rings' music sounds much like the above band photo appears: a little hazy and blurred out, obscured yet made somehow distinctive by the light of the sun. It's not exactly surf-inflected but there is an undeniable ocean and sand quality to their music, a sort of Beach Boys by way of Sonic Youth vibe that manages to pair classic sunny sixties pop harmonies with hypnotic shoegaze guitars. Back from under the studio rock, Mýa returns. On first listen, the song is not so bad. It's definitely better than her previous singles from Moodring or Liberation . The new album's out the same day as Britney's. It's called Sugar & Spice . Notice the fierce metal cage dress in the video.
