The Skatalites at the Echoplex ► Vacationer , impressive in October when they opened for Bombay Bicycle Club , returns to L.A. for a date at the Echo, supported by Strangeheart and the Late Great Fitzcaraldos. Last week Moonbeams posted a number of cuts on Bandcamp from their LP ‘ Radio San Francisco ’ including the trippy track 'Kathleen'. The noise rock outfit (headed by San Diego’s Ryan Lescure) have been steadily self-releasing material online for years now (influenced by Flying Saucer Attack, The Lilies and MBV). Like many bands, they have a tendency to use girls names as song titles (always a winner)! First grabbing my attention with ‘Oh Anna’ from the ‘The Daisy Chain’ LP back in 2011. Moonbeams - 'Kathleen' [...]

Grab your fishin' poles and come on down, I've got a pile of fresh tasty bass just waiting for some hungry listeners! ...figured it was about time for a fishing reference. #1 Dillon Francis - Bootleg Fireworks (The Rebirth) It almost feels like Dillon Francis doesn't even need to try any more. Since episode 1, he's gotta have the most Bass Report titles of any artist. Not only does he constantly release new tracks, but they all [...]

Russia's EDM scene is clearly booming. Acts like Arty , Matisse & Sadko , Swanky Tunes and Hard Rock Sofa fill Beatport's Top 10 practically monthly as well as all your favorite festivals every year. Made up of Pavel and Vitaly Khaleev, Moonbeam recently struck their 200th studio production, and put their original "You Win Me" out as Black Hole [...]
Cue our Monday mantra — so many residencies, so little time: ► L.A. trio Gliss starts a four-week run at Los Globos behind their new album "Langsom Dans" Xu Xu Fang, Lonely Trees and the Pyyramids open, and there will be a familiar face spinning music beetween sets — KROQ's Rodney Bingenheimer. ► There's a double dose of free music in Echo Park — orchestral rockers Kan Wakan have the residency at the Echo — the Donnies the Amys and Omar Velasco join in on opening night — and it's only [...]

Since I'm on a Max Cooper quest at the moment, here's three more remixes. All for free download. France's N'to gets a remix for Ekphrasis . A lovely gentle burbling remix. N'to - Ekphrasis (Max Cooper's Porcelain Remix) Next, Moonbeam gets a remix for When Tears Are Dropping From The Sky . This one's more in his clattery relentless style. Moonbeam - When Tears Are Dropping From The Sky (Max Cooper's 'Slave' Remix) finally, a remix of Max Cooper by Echaskech of his classic track [...]
