Trance-gaze band moonbell just dropped a new, self-titled album on 123 vinyl via Loglady Records and on CD via Deep Space Recordings . Okay, so as far as I know, "trance-gaze" isn't a thing. But it's entirely appropriate, I think: moonbell's music is equal parts hypnotic, trance-like drone and shoegazey fuzz rock. But don't take my word for it. We've been waiting all month for tonight's Dustin Wong (ex-Ponytail) show at the Hemlock with Woodsman (CO) and local opener, the dream-gazey Moonbell (9pm, $7). Eigentlich bin ich ein ganz schlichter Mensch – man muss in einer Promomail nur ein paar Referenzbands wie Ride oder Spacemen 3 erwähnen, und schon höre ich mir die mitgesandte Musik erwartungsfroh an. So geschehen auch bei Moonbell – ihr Track «Figurine» von der Debüt-EP trifft genau den richtigen Ton, er klingt psychedelisch und wälzt sich auf einem schweren Gitarrenteppich dahin. Moonbell are a relatively new band out of San Francisco who perform very heavy and hazy psychedelic rock. The band just finished recording their new EP Figurine (recorded at Tiny Telephone in SF) and below is the title track from the EP. Their release party will be July 6th at Elbo Room. Figurine
