Click image to view on Soundcloud Sounds like: Morcheeba, Portishead, Tricky "Massive Attack - 3D & Vermona Demo" What's so good? All of a sudden Massive Attack has jumped into the singles game. Well, sort of. You see, "3D & Vermona" is a demo track - which leaves us wondering what an official version might sound like. Either way, this is their second release in [...]

James Blake is perhaps the most established artist in the genre of post-step. Although he himself is of Caucasian descent, his music filters music of Black origins, with dub, dubstep and the tinkering snares of drum and bass which can all be found woven into his late night music. It's a style that feels born from the Internet generation, transcending genres and particularly race, blurring the lines between groups and influences. Today's recommendation is an exciting Black solo artist, but when we completed a short phone interview with her this week we asked her who her influences were. Her answer? [...]

Click image to download full album Song: Inspired Flight - Wonderwall Remix "Inspired Flight - Wonderwall Remix" What's so good? Normally I wouldn't post two songs by the same artists as Song of the Day in almost successive days (I just recently posted this song Ft. Scarub ). But I didn't know this track existed. And don't let the title deceive you - this is a far stretch from the "Wonderwall" you're familiar with. Essentially, Inspired Flight have [...]
30 artists pay tribute to the prolific singer-songwriter

Jake Ryan had a HD disk crash this week, Tyler's computer was out for repair. It returned on Monday, the same day he had to have his car towed to a shop. All of this results in a REPEAT! YEAH! WOO-HOO. (Oh, you're so lucky. What have you done to deserve such gifts?) Jake Ryan joins us via phone from Shermer, Illinois. I whip my hair back and forth. Not because I am a teenage girl (although I sometimes act like one) but because there is a party. No, it's not in my pants. This party is in my ears, and soon it will be in yours as well. I am pleased to present to you The Indie Sabbath - more refreshing than an ice-cold soda in the middle of the desert. For me, music is the purest form of communication this world has to offer. I think I should have no other mortal wants, if I could always have plenty of music. [...]

Have you ever heard a particular singer's voice and thought..."Man. I would LOVE this person to sing me a lullaby." To be honest, before hearing Norwegian singer/songwriter Thomas Dybdahl 's soothing vocals, neither had I. While Dybdahl is a complete original, his work has earned comparisons to music legends including Tim Buckley and Nick Drake . I also hear a little bit of James Blake in his voice, and I don't [...]

To borrow a line from Morcheeba 's rousing 2000 single "Rome Wasn't Built in a Day", Rome really wasn't built in a day. The same can be applied to the UK trip-hop/rock/soul band, which has been steadily building an audience and wowing critics since their 1996 debut album, Who Can You Trust? . Their career came step-by-step, gaining a large following in Europe, while coming close to making a huge impression in North America. Then vocalist Skye Edwards left the Godfrey brothers (Paul and Ross) in 2003, and the band floundered for awhile. Edwards returned in 2010 with the [...]
Morcheeba are back with their original lineup and playing this weekend in Los Angeles! The tour is in support of Morcheeba's 2010 release, Blood Like Lemonade, with the band making a stop here in Los Angeles at the Music Box...
"This show is already better than the last time I saw them because it's with their real singer," a friend said knowingly as Morcheeba launched into their set Wednesday night at First Avenu...

Toronto - I am unsure when was the last time Morcheeba graced our city with their presence, but judging by the near capacity crowd at the Phoenix on Sunday, the answer was an implicit "too long". In town as part of a lengthy North America tour to promote their seventh studio album Blood Like Lemonade , the London trip hop band played an absolutely splendid 110 minute set with songs that spanned their entire discography. It was a concert that surpassed all my expectations and undoubtedly left everyone a little warm on a frosty night. Taking a [...]
Reunited band tours in support of new release with renewed energy. Couples were getting in the Valentine's Day mood early at Irving Plaza during the Morcheeba concert February 11th. The down tempo grind of the music matched the dimly lit stage and atmospheric lighting so the action in the crowd actually became part of the show. Plus the fragrant air in the venue corresponded with the band's name as "cheeba" is an informal name of cannabis. Morcheeba opened strong with "The Sea" off of their 1998...
