Ive got a whole bunch of great stuff this week to share. First off is Morgan Geist , one half of horrible horrible Brooklyn duo Metro Area. Not the best intro, but his debut solo album Double Night Time is actually really really good. Its full of fantastic little minimal techno-pop gems that will appeal to any fans of Junior Boys for sure. Warp records rarely go wrong, and they certainly haven't in the acquisition of Glaswegian dubstep and grime titan Rustie who has produced some sterling remixes of Warp acts Jamie Lidell and Pivot in recent months. Well here's some great news: According to the Rawkblog, Junior Boys will be releasing a new album come January! The Canadian duo's last album, So This Is Goodbye , had some of the best 'chill' songs in recent memory. Especially In The Morning , a song that still gets many a listen by yours truly, even after being used in Hyatt(?) commercials. This week sees the release of Environ label head Morgan Geist 's first solo outing (as himself at least) since 1997. As is to expected from one of the men behind Metro Area , and many other endeavours, it's a slickly produced album, that explores that place where techno and disco meet head on. But even better, Junior Boys vocalist Jeremy Greenspan collaborates on many of the tracks. Morgan Geist is preparing to release his first album after a decade! He already named the album Double Night Time and artwork has been unveiled (above). He also released a new teaser/EP this month titled Detroit . The EP consists of the original version of "Detroit" from Geist's upcoming release, as well as two incredible remixes from Grammy Award-nominated remixer Carl Craig. Morgan Geist "City of Smoke and Flame" - Geist's song seems to concern some sort of middle class guy who must travel regularly for work, leaving him alone in his head as he spends far too much time in his car, and in strange yet generally uninteresting places.
