True story time. While driving from somewhere to somewhere last week (details are hazy), a Talib Kweli tune popped up on the iPod (what tune? I can't remember. Details are worrying hazily for something that happened last week...am I going senile already?). Now, I'm not going to turn this into a Kweli bashing session. But it suddenly hit me how I've gone off him. I don't know why, but it just seemed a little bland to me. But the world works in mysterious ways, and when DJ Hudge dropped a little Kweli [...]

Disco Nutter a producer and DJ hailing from Sofia, Bulgaria is putting out some super bass heavy Dubstep and Funky right now. There are alot of great elements going on in each of these tracks, his taste is all across the board and he has a great way of incorporating them into his music. Disco Nutter on Beatport.com [Disco Nutter & Roka - Spectre] This whole Lp Just blows my mind. Max Tannone from New York City throwing down some crazy funky remix's of [...]

You may remember Max Tannone as the dj who brought us the Jaydiohead, Mos Dub and Dub Kweli remix projects. He's back with another jammer of a remix album: Ghostfunk - Ghostface vs Afrofunk. It IS great. Enjoy. The Same Girl - GhostFunk - Max Tannone Ghostfunk by Max Tannone

If Jaydiohead , Mos Dub , or Dub Kweli ring any bells, then you are in for another dose of remix/mashup sicknastyness that will have you nodding your head and squinting your eyes like... well exactly like I'm doing right now. This disc is a beautiful mixture of random Ghostface Killah remixed with a slew of oldschool funk rarities [...]

We're nostalgic already. Remember Kanye's album? That was dope. Seriously though, we had a great year and we hope you did too. Here's a little something we put together to put all our love for 2010 in one place. The list was made by averaging Matt, Steve, and Ethan's 25 favorite albums of 2010 (Arnold's opinion, though very highly regarded, was not included because he doesn't like to confine music to lists...or he just didn't make one). Click on the artist to see what we've had to say about them previously, and click the album art on [...]

Remember Jaydiohead? It was that awesome mash-up album of Jay-Z and Radiohead that dropped in December of '08 and introduced the world to producer Max Tannone. He's back, this time with an album called Mos Dub, which mashes my personal favorite Mos Def with roots reggae. Each of the 10 tracks expertly lays a Mos Def vocal track over a reggae instrumental, usually weaving in some chorus vocals from the reggae song as well. The Mos Def tracks are well chosen from throughout his career, and Tannone has dug up 10 absolutely gorgeous reggae tunes. Each song is [...]

The interwebs were booming with excitement when Max Tannone released his EP Mos Dub and you should expect much of the same today as you can now grab yourself a copy of his latest work Dub Kweli . The dub music is there but this time we see the lyrical prowess of Talib Kweli rather than Mos Def. Enjoy! DOWNLOAD :: Max Tannone - Dub Kweli - [ MP3 ] [...]

Max Tannone, the producer behind the Jaydiohead and Mos Dub projects, wherein he mashed to shit vocals from Jay-Z over Radiohead in the case of the former and Mos Def over 19602s Jamaican dub and reggae cuts in the case of the latter, has done it again today (just now, like, literally) with a new [...]

A good mashup can be a window into a new world. It can expose you to new music and new genres of music. For example, I'm no big Jay-Z fan, but hearing DJ Danger Mouse's The Grey Album made me feel like one. Lately I've been enamored with Max Tannone and his brilliant mixes. I want you to be enamored too. note: an interview with Mr. Tannone was posted on a really excellent blog not too long ago. I'm just compelled to add some more specific reviews here. Because you really need to [...]

Mash-Ups, Covers, and Remixes often seem to rub people the wrong way. I like to think of them more as interpretations. Just take them for what they are. No one is going to make a Bob Marley song as well as Bob, but you can interpret it in a new way. So here are some covers and mash-ups that I have been into semi-lately. DOWNLOAD all the songs HERE 1. What a fantastically lazy Sunday we've just had. If you haven't made it outside yet, you are missing the most beautiful day thus far this year. After a late and delicious breakfast, we made our way up to Mont Royal Park for a bit of Tam-Tams. And a bit of Tam-Tams we got: hundreds of chillers, drummers, acrobats, performers and LARPers came out to enjoy the beautiful weather together. At least four distinct drum circles had emerged, each with it's own flavor and group of dancers. There was even a mini psy-trance DJ booth that was set up and [...]
You probably know this - but a lot of people have remixed Jay-Z. I can not emphasize the word a lot enough. You may or may not know this but Jay-Z has a twitter account. He has posted to the site twitter.com 14 times. 14. One of those times he talks about the Jaydiohead remixes. If [...]
