The video for the title track from Yeah Yeah Yeahs' fourth album is not for the faint of heart. Getting inspiration from the name of the track, "Mosquito" features a psychedelic mosquito sucking blood from unsuspecting victims. The mosquito gets fatter and fatter as it sucks blood from its victims until it ultimately starts to change colors. Oh, and for some reason there is a creepy kid on what looks like a Skype chat screen in the bottom right corner watching the entire thing. It's creepy—I'll be checking under my pillows next time I go to sleep. A [...]
Even though it's animated, this new video by Yeah Yeah Yeah s for their album's title track "Mosquito" will still make a few people squirm. Mosquitoes feeding on little children isn't normally the kind of thing that people enjoy watching, but there's something special about this kid. Maybe he's destined to work at a carnival or open a gay nightclub, or just enjoy the '80s fashion revival when it comes back around in full force in 2020, but either way, he's glowing. [...]
It's with a faint sense of trepidation we hike forever upward toward Alexandra Palace, not least as the sweltering trudge seemingly represents the metaphoric arrival of festival season which begins in earnest in but a few short weeks' time. It's the time of the season for early starts and later nights, lager glugged from the moment morning stumbles into afternoon as liver, lobes and inner ears quiver as one. Which painfully reminds me I've neglected to bring the old in-ears. Shite. Though Karen O & co. haven't opted for anywhere near as ruinous a line up as ATP [...]
The Yeah Yeah Yeahs are a band that have been pretty hard to avoid; for instance, they’ve never gotten much closer than the outer periphery of my own musical tastes, but even I have fairly defined opinions on their albums, their image, and their status as icons of a New York music scene that was blasted into a yuppie-obsessed oblivion sometime around 2009. Try as they might, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs are not the underground icons they once were – they are, in a sense, fulfilling every promise of mainstream success that Lydia Lunch and other No Wavers bitterly claimed [...]
Somehow, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs have become the most consistent band to spring from that early '00s New York scene. The Strokes sputtered their way into mediocrity, while Interpol could never break away from the shadow of their impressive debut. Meanwhile, the group who seemed the likeliest to combust not only survived, but continued to thrive, churning out three excellent records that each had an individual identity. In a live setting, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs played to their strengths: Karen [...]
While this Tuesday had plenty of new music to boast, the most noteworthy artist to pass through my ears was the Yeah Yeah Yeahs . After watching their performance at Coachella via live stream and now hearing today's release Mosquito in full, I gotta say the new material is impressive. It also has to be one of the most erratic albums I've listened to in recent memory. It includes lots of mood changes, awesome samples (including a subway train), collaborations, a gospel choir, and a song about aliens called "Area 523 which might actually be my favorite [...]
Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Mosquito – new video
I had the pleasure of watching the Yeah Yeah Yeahs play Manchester Apollo last week. It was my first time seeing them live (I know - very slack of me) and it was just as entertaining and enjoyable as I thought it'd be. That Karen O certainly knows how to put on a show - exploding glitter, jacket changes, strange eye-wear, glorious posturing - she had it all - and she ended the gig by shoving the microphone down her panties and staring into the crowd [...]

Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Mosquito
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Mosquito Interscope: 2013 For those too young to appreciate their youth, let me get this out of the way up top: growing old is a drag. Things don’t work as well as they used to. Hangovers last approximately all day. You start thinking about things like insurance policies and fixed interest rates. But if you’re the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, growing old is especially fraught with peril. From the onset of their decade-long career, the band has been creative, inventive and fun - typically the first few things that old [...]

Don't The post Yeah Yeah Yeahs - Mosquito appeared first on Nothing But Hope And Passion - NBHAP - Music Magazine & more .
