Music surrounds us, all day every day, and with the amount of music being released, it's easy to miss great tracks. We've put together a selection of songs that have been in the audiosphere for a few years now, but seemingly haven't garnered the attention that they deserved. So whether or not you've already heard these songs or overlooked them, they are well worth the listen. By Desiree Autobee *Tracks and year(s) released are as follows. Best Youth - Honey Trap (2011) [...]

Motopony - Wait For Me I always feel pressed to post new music, it's just, if everybody has heard it - then no one wants to hear it, or so it seems. Today I go against my own grain. I was sick last week and spent three days in forced solitude in a hotel room. Save for a few random texts, I didn't communicate much to anyone - including the maid. She Cuban and I long ago forgot the two years of Spanish I took in high school, so I couldn't even carry on pleasantries with [...]

It may have turned for the worse outside, but there's still plenty to see inside. City Arts Fest dominates most of the schedule with an amazing week of music ahead in almost every venue in town. It's a busy week with a ton of great choices for everyone. On Monday night Beth Orton sets the bar high for the week with a highly anticipated performance at Showbox at the Market. On Tuesday, Grimes, Elite Gymnastic , and Myths are at Neumos, Crocodiles and The Soft Pack are at Crocodile, and [...]

Attendees have the luxury of catching 80 different shows, panels, parties and special events with distinguished and rising music industry professionals, artists, entrepreneurs and more. This year several artists we've interviewed with will play the fest, including Erin Barra, Teen Daze, The Duke Spirit, VHS or Beta, Electric Touch, Motopony, US Royalty, The Wombats and more. Check out the schedule here . Most recently Teen Daze announced [...]
As we are beginning to prepare our year-end lists, it's time to look back to 2011 and appreciate the albums that we missed here at Earbuddy. It occurs to me that critics have an often undiscussed power that isn't afforded to artists. Yes, we get to snipe at creative people without having [...]

photo by Jason Bergman While the other side of the country faces a heat wave, the weather in Seattle is looking good this week, which is a great reason to go see some local shows! Tuesday features shows from the Detroit Cobras at Neumo's and a quadruple billing of Love Battery, Chix Pack, Speedwobble, and Lost Puppy at Fun House. If you're looking for a musical way to celebrate independence on Wednesday, spend July 4th by going to see the Family 4th show with Pickwick at Gasworks Park or attend [...]

Motopony's album was released a year ago but the first time I heard about them was two weeks ago when the Doe Bay Festival line-up was announced. The band sums up why I like them so much in their own lyrics, "You got everything I needed, that's why I'm loving you so much" . Everything is here from the gentle lull of the melodies, the soft and soothing vocals, and the stories the lyrics outline. This music was made for daydreams, let them soundtrack yours. Motopony - King of Diamonds [...]

Seattle quintet Motopony , who just released their self-titled debut last month, will headline a show at Neumo's on July 7th. They will play with two other Emerald City locals, Smokey Brights and Cumulus . Motopony's sound is a winning combination of Grateful Dead-esque folk music and the funky and soulful voice of frontman Daniel Blue. Listen to one of the album's highlights, "Seer," below. - Josh Johnson
I've heard this song, and covers of this song, roughly 847 times. It hasn't made me feel the way this video does in a very long time. I love Daniel Blue , I love Motopony, and I will never tire of honesty in a church. This is ab.so.lutely stunning , and penetrating all the way to the little crackly-lightning neuron connectors along the base of my spine, and the scattered hardened-black corroded outputs around my heart. Hallelujah (Leonard Cohen) - [...]

Finn Riggins Crowd by Glenn Landberg A week or so ago, I lost the battle with my jelly legs and ringing ears. Inside the most packed, sweaty Neurolux I’ve seen in my limited 21+ lifespan, even the sweet sound of the Cave Singers couldn’t keep me from fleeing to topple into bed by eleven o’clock on the closing night of Boise 's inaugural Treefort Music Fest . Sitting on a sparsely populated, sunny Sunday Neurolux patio now, I reflect. Wristbands have been shed, the unmarked van to car ratio has [...]

This is an arresting, fascinating song. So often we are valued for our smooth pearlescence, our curious mystery, our air of perfection that we like to throw out there like nothing has ever burrowed past our defenses. This song took that and smashed it wide open for me, valuing instead the beauty of the wounds ( not the scars, yet - worth noting). I sat riveted the first time I heard it, and have put it on repeat innumerable times since then. The music is unsettlingly off-kilter, and gorgeous. Monsters [...]

With everyone finally back from SXSW in Austin, the local concert calendar also picks up significantly this week. Starting on Monday, The Magnetic Fields begin the first of two night at the Neptune Theatre, followed on Tuesday night with the Drive By Truckers at the Showbox, and local legends Mudhoney bring the noise to the Tractor on Wednesday night. On Thursday, Plants and Animals are at Crocodile, Skream & Benga are at Neumo's, Michael Gira , and Sir Richard Bishop are at Triple Door, and Yppah and Anomie Belle [...]

The wild, celestial scale of musical largesse has tipped off its fulcrum in my favor, and we are currently splashing around in a sparkly, melodic deluge of fantastic upcoming Fuel/Friends concerts that I am hosting in the coming weeks. I feel truly awed and thrilled; all four of these special headliners have been listed in my year-end tops lists before. You're invited to all four warm wonderful nights, or if you have friends in Colorado, please let them know. Whoever comes from the farthest will get a song dedication and a hug. [...]

We all know I hate Best of Lists that come out before the year is over so nearly 4 weeks into 2012 I finally present my best albums of 2011! (Still a day faster than last year !) Below are the top 10 albums from my 2011 followed by 10 honorable mentions. The list was compiled by weighing total play counts along with longevity. Not only did I listen to it a lot, but was I still reaching for it months after the honeymoon phase. These are those albums. Since I can't be bothered to rank these [...]
