We first meet Monsieur Oscar (Denis Lavant) as he leaves his home at the crack of dawn dressed in a business suit headed for the office. His wife and family send him off with well wishes and armed guards occupy the rooftops of his family compound as he walks down the driveway towards a white stretch limo. He is greeted by his female driver and settles into the back of the vehicle for the drive into the city. Monsieur Oscar discusses business deals and the need for an upgrade in weaponry for his guards during the drive. His [...]
MOTOR's amazing LP released earlier this year on Chris Liebing's CLR includes many unexpected collaborations with some of the biggest 802s legends. Depeche Mode's Martin Gore, Nitzer Ebb's Douglas McArthy and Gary Numan. The third single out of the album is the Gary Numan one and as everything that bears his signature it is very [...]

For the latest song from his Songs by Me, Stalley series, the MMG signee drops off this classic car inspired track, Loud Motors . Produced by Rashad. Stalley – Loud Motors is a post from: That Hip Hop Blog

Oly Grasset talks about the hard techno edge of his new project.

Out now on the glorious Ultra Records, the legend.. The Man.. the pioneering Grammy Award winner known as David Morales - teams up with Roisin Murphy (from Moloko fame) for a production called ‘Golden Era’ taken from his recently released album called “Changes.” Single wise on ‘Golden Era’ we have 7 mixes emanating from Dripmasters, Federico Scavo, DJ Meme, Franco De Mulero & Hector Romero and Morales himself - with the real aftermath of extra gems existing efficiently throughout his album entitled “Changes.” Featuring 12 tracks of audio-keepers, the talents of Ultra Nate, Jonathan Mendelsohn, Polina, [...]
We've been hearing such great feedback buzz surrounding fairly new dynamic London-based group TOY . "TOY is a Korg Delta led five-piece formed in 2010. It consists of Tom Dougall (Vox/Guitars), Dominic O'Dair (Guitars), Maxim Barron (Bass/Vox), Alejandra Diez (Synthesizers/Modulation) and Charlie Salvidge (Drums/Vox). TOY's musical influences incorporate a wide range of genres including punk, psychedelia, krautrock, and post-rock...." You may also remember some of the members from the now defunct Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong. TOY is a far different animal, though, and have worked hard to establish their own sound; a dark [...]
Dj Chart: Chris Liebing's Beatport "all over time and place" Movement charts May 2012

★★★☆☆ MOTOR are not a mild mannered, mirror-gazing electro unit. With their synthesisers played with knuckledusters and with a stellar guestlist of Gary Numan, Depeche Mode’s Martin L Gore and Billie Ray Martin, MOTOR’s Bryan Black and Oly Grasset take simple mechanics and pump them full of anti-preening agent (they save the catwalk soundtracks for their days off). They aren’t over-vamping with animosity either, but as with Martin on "Hyper Lust," the warpath is bearing the brunt of their occupancy and shows pop doesn’t have to pretty in pink. Hang on though, one skeptical [...]

We spoke of ' Motoring ' a few weeks back from (and extremely hard to google) krautrock-inspired new outfit TOY , well we forgot to add this little piece of audio goodness 'Left Myself Behind' which is very reminiscent of Joy Division & the Horrors, and that's certainly not a bad thing at all. The band will be releasing their debut project in September, we suggest you start spreading the word until then. Latest single is out now . TOY - Left Myself Behind
Just don’t mention the Jing Jang Jong. Because although some members of TOY may have a shadowy past in the morally and musically questionable indie outfit, they have just about everything else going for them. They've got the motorik, yearning groove, the melancholy and introspection of shoegaze, and the woozy psychedelic edge. It all amounts to a sound that is completely hypnotic – a cavernous space to get lost in. For me, that’s what music’s about – anybody can pick up an instrument and create something that it is physically possible to listen to, but there’s so much more to [...]

One of the sickests tunes i heard this year, simply monster Peaking Lights remix to Toy track "Motoring".
The buzz around Toy has been growing towards a crescendo ever since their first gig a year ago at a hipsterish London club night run by The Horrors . By the time they embarked upon an already-legendary weekly residency at hip Dalston boozer The Shacklewell Arms in January this year, it was louder than a squadron of biplanes overhead. Last year's double-A debut single, "Left Myself Behind/Clock Chimes" , established their signature sound of relentless motorik rhythms, distorted synthesisers and psychedelic guitars. Epic in sound and scope, the seven-and-a-half minute [...]

Psych shoe-gaze upstart TOY is set to release their new single 'Motoring' on April 23rd, until then you can watch the cool clip above. Really digging on this band and this rad track hopefully you will too. Expect a full length project ot see daylight later this year.
Veronica Falls, Echo Lake, Novella, Savages and now Toy round out a group of U.K.-based bands that I can’t seem to stop thinking about. There will inevitably be a heavy round of shoegaze tags and comparisons after this song gets around in the U.S. press, but doesn’t it also remind you of R.E.M.? That’s a nice balance of sounds/influence. Heavenly will release the band’s second single on seven-inch vinyl/digi-download on April 16. Fun fact: The uber-talented Rose Dougall is [...]

Oft earmarked – quite incomprehensibly – as indispensable progenitors of the equally frequently derided 'post-rock' genre, Bitch Magnet were always sparkier than the anaesthetised references hurled their way during their lamentably brief sojourn in the heart and ringing ears of the American independent underground. A formative band for Don Caballero and consequently for contemporary heroes Battles, the trio initially comprised of bassist and lead vocalist Sooyoung Park, drummer Orestes Morfin and guitarist Jon Fine (who coincidentally toured with the former) last year reunited to tour the fuck out of a world that's sorely missed their ravaging presence and [...]
