Although I tend to find documentaries that have people talking about how great and important the subject is for 90 minutes to be a little weak, Lemmy Kilmister is certainly worthy of an hoursworth of cocksucking. If you've ever seen The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years (and you should have) Lemmy is the only person in it who doesn't end up looking like a complete douche by basically being a badass the entire time. While I'm totally not surprised [...]
Time for a little old school MOTORHEAD up in this piece. Their video for "Killed By Death" (above) should be the blueprint for all bad-ass metal videos that follow. Come on! A motorcycle through the living room...that's so cool, they had to show it twice. What other metal videos have instant replays? I certainly can't [...]
In 2004, the Painkiller-era Judas Priest line-up reunited and blew Black Sabbath off the stage at Ozzfest, so I supposed it's only fair that in 2008, Sabbath should return the favor on the Metal Masters tour. Of course, swapping out Ozzy Osbourne for Ronnie James Dio didn't hurt. Don't get me wrong - I've spent many more [...]

I was having this really dumb conversation with Steve the other night, who I barely ever speak to since his move to San Francisco, and the horribleness of that Nada Surf song "Mother's Day" came up in conversation. On my first trip out to LA in January of '07, when I was here looking for an apartment, I was hanging out at Steve's place with his roommate Lyz, his older brother, and Ilya. We were basically sitting around their living room boozing and trying out out-joke each other when that terrible song somehow crept into our conversation. It really is [...]

And on the 8th day God created...Lemme. Motorhead was the first show I ever went to. It was in the 1980's. My ears have never really recovered. Here is a track off of their latest album. Play it loud. Motorhead - 'Runaround Man' MP3 </object

This year's Norway Rock Festival was forever marred in the memories of all sorts of leather-wearing attendees this weekend when news broke that two people were found deceased on a bus nearby. According to a Norwegian police spokesperson, "We do not know exactly how they died, but we assume they suffocated on fumes while they were on the bus". All signs point to a still-to-be-confirmed carbon monoxide poisoning. Headliners for the event included Alice Cooper , Motorhead and Turbonegro . (mp3) Turbonegro - Turbonegro [...]
It's not entirely news that Lemmy has got a bunch of Nazi stuff, or, indeed, for him to be photographed dressed up in Nazi outfits. Unfortunately, he's been using a photo of himself tricked out like a Nazi to promote a gig in Germany this weekend. Which - in a country which is quite sensitive about these things - is actually illegal. The Guardian has dug out some thoughts Lemmy has shared about his love of the former Master Race: "I don't only collect Nazi stuff, I collect objects from all the [...]
RSL VIRAL VIDEO SELECTION: A Simple Introduction: The Pish Dolls are the invention of a Scottish madman, a marionette street artist, and a man who loves his hard rock. It's not particularly surprising to hear that Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister has a large collection of Nazi paraphernalia. Umlaut enthusiasts who write songs named "Killed By Death" and title their albums Bomber and 1916 should be expected to have an interest in the darker aspects of world history. That said, there's little excuse for wearing a Nazi cap in a photo promoting an upcoming show in a Germany—and thanks to that little whoopsie, the Warted One is now under criminal investigation. Was Lemmy just making a fashion statement or indulging in "anti-constitutional propaganda?" According to the Kilmister, [...]

Hair metal. Not to be confused with metal hair. It wasn't just a fashion statement, it was a genre. This post will by no means be comprehensive: I'm not an expert in this kind of music, and you all will laugh at my credentials when I confess that one of my favorites [...]

I know I said that I wouldn't be posting again this week, but I say a lot of things. I've been waiting two years for an excuse to use that as a headline and I finally found an excuse. On a related note, I've been waiting two weeks for an excuse to use that awesome picture. It's not mine and I'd attribute it but I don't know where it's from. If you do let me know. The Decline Of Western Civilization II: The Metal Years Decline II is one [...]

Today in Music History: In 1976 'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975,' a best-of drawn from the Eagles' first four albums, enters the album chart. One-third of a century later it will be pronounced the best-selling album in history. It's no secret to anyone who knows me that I've been a card carrying member of the KISS ARMY ever since order forms for the Kiss Army first appeared in November 1976's Rock and Roll Over album. I stuck by them during their lowest period [...]
It is next to impossible to try and plan the 4 days of music with over 1500 bands playing in I don't know how many venues. I've tried to build my schedule over and over as each time it is almost complete another party is announced that draws your attention. I started this post last week and it is now Tuesday and everything kicks off tomorrow. This is as far as I've gotten and am giving up. To see pretty much everything that I'll be trying to check out go here . Much [...]
