Phil Elverum , who performs as Mount Eerie, plans to release a digital version of his newest album, "Wind's Poem," next month. (Looks like you can preview it on Amazon .) The CD and vinyl copies will be sold in August. The album is a continuation of his "black metal" music that he recorded on the EP "Black Wooden Ceiling Opening" last year. Mount Eerie's last record Lost Wisdom was a haunting yet beautiful trip through lead songwriter Phil Elverum's moods and aural landscapes. For that outing he enlisted the fantastic voice of Julie Doiron who added a perfect compliment to the album. The ever prolific Elverum returns August 18th with Wind's Poem , which constitues Mount Eerie's 3rd proper record. Mount Eerie is the musical project of Phil Elverum. On record, his music is noisy, scattered, and experimental. However, much of Mount Eerie's material is available in acoustic form on rare live recordings. Thanks to my brother, we've gotten our hands on a high-quality version of Elverum playing "Wooly Mammoth's Mighty Absence." Check out this great live take. Sled Island is an " annual independent multi-venue music and arts festival" in Calgary, Alberta, Canada: of which I reside. This is the 3rd year and first year I am going to truly break out of my shell and attempt to bombard the venues with extreme malice.
